I WILL PUNCH A HOLE THROUGH YOUR FACE.

Bahahaha.
Just kidding, of course.

Have you ever tried to reinvent yourself?
I mean, not just by body modification, but the whole deal.
Your hair, your clothes, your friends, the way you hold yourself...

What have you done to change yourself in the passed five years?
What are your biggest changes?
Did you look the way you thought you would?
How do you think you'll look in five years from now?
Have you ever modeled yourself off of someone?
What do you wish you looked like?

Five years ago, I was 15 years old.
I was very awkward and I pretty much thought that I was a boy, haha.
This is also the age where I started stretching my ears.
Why?
Because I was a generic teenage girl, following the "cool kids".
Little did I know, the "cool kids" weren't that cool at all.
They thought it was neat to stick straws in their ears and pretty soon,
almost all the kids in my school started stretching their ears
and putting different straws from different fast food joins in their ears.

We didn't know it was body modification.
We didn't know it was unsanitary, laughable or just plain stupid.

When I was 16, I cut an ankh into my left arm.
Why?
Because I craved getting a tattoo,
but I wasn't old enough to get one myself.

When I was 17, I started dating a piercer.
He educated me about real, safe body modifications.
From there, I fell in love with this newfound "art".
I started looking up real piercings, how to stretch my ears properly,
how to keep an artistic/creative eye out for good tattoos/artists,
how to avoid unsafe body mods, and much, much more.
He even pierced my septum for me.

When I was 18-19 I ended up piercing myself several successful times.
I found a new sense of pride and accomplishment.
But something was still missing.

The second I realized that I turned 20 years old, I hit an identity crisis.
Here I was, pierced and proud, but still getting cold shoulders
from adults and respectable people around me.
Now, I'm trying to fit in with this new world of job holders,
responsible adults, and am trying to become a productive member of society
while still trying to express myself and exercise my freedoms.
Such a difficult task!

Overall, I'm very proud of how much I've grown and changed since I was 15.
I started off as a very ignorant child and in five short years,
I've grown into a very knowledgeable young adult.
And I'm happy with myself so far.
No regrets.

Ah yes, the innocent days of youth.

I was the typical fat kid growing up, I didnt really stick out in any way. I started listening to every type of music and was constantly trying to find my "thing" unfortunately I didnt find anything until I was 17.

You see, I lived in small towns my entire life, the BIG place where im from actually had 700 people (omg so many!) So when I moved to montreal I went exploring. One of the places I found was a piercing and tattoo parlor... I was in love. I went there my first night and got my tongue and eyebrow pierced. I had found my thing finally!

Since then I grew out my hair and got a million different awesome hairstyles as well as as many piercinngs as I could find.

So now Ive become the "Metal Guy" and it feels great that everyone knows me like that. I even love the fact that most of my style is easily adaptable to the work place. I dont have any epic piercings, like nothing is stretched, and all my tattoos are hidden. I only found who I really am only this year and it feels great to finally have an identity.

Well, I'm happy for you!
I still think I'm "finding" myself, but it's getting easier.

But yeah, Katie. GOD. Katie.
She used to be a Suicide/Godsgirl but
I have no idea what she's been up to lately.

Ya it was a lengthy process, I actually went through a point where I thought that I was just putting on a face just to look different but when I had to take out a bunch for work I started yearning for them again and I realized that it wasnt just some style, it was something I enjoyed and wanted to be a symbol for me.

Honestly, I'm sure I've changed.
I just don't really notice it, mentally at least.

Physically, I've dyed my hair a lot of different colours, and the piercing thing. Haha.
Its totally typical, but I would simply like to look prettier haha!
And had the rest of my goal mods rofl.

Though, I am quite a bit younger than most of you.
So, I'm pretty much just getting into the "finding myself" thing now.

I never really did the modification thing to be different or anything.
I've just always been attracted to them.
Dunno why, really.
It's become a passion of mine, however.
If I could talk about anything for hours, it would be this.

I think I've changed a lot in the past 5 years. Actually, no. I know I have. 5 years ago, I wore almost nothing but tshirts and pajama bottoms and stuff from highschool that didn't quite fit anymore. I freaked out in social situations (we're talking panic attacks), and I know I seemed kind of desperate, even though I had a boyfriend.

Now I'm no longer medicated, I make my own awesome clothes, I ditched my boyfriend, I'm creative again, and I live with 9 other amazing people that help keep me active. I'm happy being me now.

I've changed a lot since I was 19. I'm still trying to work out new clothes and styles though. My wardrobe is a mess. ><""
