Nathail scoffs, just a bit at the thought of that. "And both of those choices are pretty immature." Glancing at the lake he grins to himself. "But all the more amusing when they get caught doing it and how red in the face they could get." Luckily his luck didn't seem to be that bad that he had to stand near any of those types at the last hatching. Instead he'd been in the back with a few taller ones and watched the hatchlings from that 'safe' distance.
"Yeah well they think wrong. I know if I said or did something when I was mad, it wouldn't excuse me for even a few seconds. If anything it makes the punishment afterward that much worse because of it, you know?"

Conomor nodded, stroking Gilden's flank as the gold shifted slightly and chirred in her sleep. Probably dreaming of playing in the water. "I think the only time somebody can say their actions were not their fault is during mating flights, and only the rider of the female and the rider of male who wins her at that. The ones who didn't succeed and regret who they ended up in bed with to relieve their... frustration just need to learn a bit more self control." That could be them in a couple of turns. Not the people moaning about who they went to bed with; riders with mature dragons.
"You know, I do hope that assuming we Impress, once we reach adult wings our superiors aren't total idiots," he said with a grin to the other youth. "Some of them seem very competent, deserving of their position but others just seem like fools to me half the time. Stuck up self-important fools at that."

"Mating flights.. they sound as intimidating as they do.. what, exciting? I'd probably be all well and good if I Impressed a dragon that didn't really care to Fly and Chase. Sounds like a lot of stress to build up." Nathail watches the little flit for a moment. "Speaking of those though, you think Gilden there will find a bronze or brown flit that she'll like when she's old enough for that stuff?" However old a flit did need to be to clutch.
"Con.. you've probably just jinxed us there." He returns the grin with one of his own though. "Watch our luck come crashing down and get paired off with a wing full of the like."

Conomor chuckled and gave a wry grin. "I hope I haven't, though that might be the new manifestation of my bad luck... on the other hand, maybe I've got all that over with and we'll end up with someone amazing. I do hope we're on the same wing either way though." Nathail was somebody he felt he could count on, and that was an important thing to feel about your wingmates. If you didn't, you might end up watching them as much as you watched yourself, and in waiting for them to mess up, mess up yourself. He'd have to watch out for that; no doubt there would be at least a couple on his wing that didn't live up to his standards.
"I'm sure she will," Conomor went on, glancing down at his flitt. "It'll be instinct for her when she's a little older... Hey, when she does rise, would you like an egg?" He would like to give one to Nathail, but obviously if he didn't want one there was no point. Well, he supposed he could give the other youth one to sell on, but somehow that didn't feel as satisfying as if he wanted a flitt of his own.
