Rough eh? Nice of you to say so Hypno.

Scarlet, it's just that if someone hasn't read the book, but wants to or has started reading it, they already know what happens to this character at the end, which sort of causes some or all of the impact to be lost. What might seem a small spoiler to you may be a bigger one to others. I've done the same thing on threads before, and then been flamed for it because others don't have the same opinion on the spoiler as me. That's all.

I'm not complaining. I was just trying to use an AWESOME character as an example of well written villainy. ^_^

Jareth in Labyrinth is also an excellent villain. Those tight pants... blaugh

Someone just cosplayed him at the London MCM Expo last weekend. Shame I didn't get to speak to him. There are photos on www.digviz.com (scroll to the bottom and click the link saying "here" to find pictures of the participants - including me as BloodRayne, and my friends as Sheena from Tales of Symphonia and Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop).

I think there's something less villainous in Jareth though (funny I have a character with the same name - and it's Welsh. If you search the name it will tell you. I found it on Baby Names World - http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Jareth.html
But anyway, he says he does everything for Sarah (and for his own gain of course), but I believe he fell in love with Sarah.
SPOILER: He didn't die at the end, but instead turned back into the barn owl. He was just thwarted. END SPOILER.

I wasn't saying you shouldn't talk of how villains conduct themselves, just not what happens to them...^_^'

Anyway!

It's unfortunate that I haven't seen the unicorn chronicles...

I gotta agree with you about the criminally insane characters Scarlet. However, for some oddball reason, I kinda like the joker. Especially when played by cool actors like Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger. It's too bad I haven't seen that guy's last performance on the Dark Knight yet.
I think that the only real cure for people like that is a modification of personality. Otherwise it'll always be the same thing over and over again.

Ha-ha! Sorry if I came off as sarcastic Mel. I just couldn't find a nicer way of putting it, he-he.

So you've been flamed before about a silly thing as a spoiler? My goodness!

It's a shame you couldn't get to talk to that guy who was cos-playing as Jareth, right Mel?

I wonder which sort of villain we should discuss next. Any ideas? neutral

Depends on who we all know I guess...

I think Kefka was absolutely brilliant as the main villain in FF6, and he was really creepy too, as well as being rather funny.
I love what he asks before you fight him at the end of the game "why do you all fight?" (or something to that effect), and each character answers in turn. He then says "you all sound like chapters from a self help booklet."

I personally think he's a better villain than Sephiroth.

Yeah, I suppose it does depend, huh?

I've heard of Kefka, yes. However, I still haven't been able to play the 6th FF game yet. I know there was a remake for the GBA but I wasn't much for buying lots of FF games on that console. I suppose I should wait for them to make a version for the DS. mrgreen
I have been playing FF3 and that's about it.
It's strange but it seems that these days Square-Enix is more at home milking the known games like FFVII, FFX and now with FFIV. Have you seen that sequel for the Wii they've been planning? I wonder if the fans would be pleased to see Kefka in action again on a sequel. It sure sounds as though Kefka is a cooler villain than most, yes. 3nodding

You can play the GBA version on the DS though....
Anyhow....Kefka is insane, and weird, and a complete drama queen (bit of a drag queen too). He's a brilliant villain.

I know but getting the GBA version is not as easy as getting the DS version (I usually download ROMs for DS, not GBA).

At least he sounds super intelligent. Do you happen to know if his IQ is mentioned anywhere?

OMG! That is one ugly SoB! I can't believe he looks like a clown in that getup. Does he chose his own clothes btw? xp
At the CV guild, there's a thread about the gayest villain and his name came up. I wonder if he is actually gay or just a drag queen like you say... neutral

Kefka is certainly camp, but I wouldn't think him to be gay. I wouldn't put it past him to cross dress though. He's arrogant and gets a pair of soldiers to clean his boots of sand near the beginning of the game.

He reminds me a lot of the Joker from Batman, only Kefka's sense of humour is better, and he's actually quite funny.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:37 pm

Really? I hadn't thought of the joker to be honest but I guess you make a good point. It's too bad I've never seen him in action cuz if you say he's actually funnier than the joker then I got to see for myself. 3nodding
So, if he reminds you of the joker, does that mean he's a bit insane as well?

Oh, he's much more insane than the Joker.

FFVI Remake - Opening Sequence (PS1)
The clown dude is Kefka evidently.

Kefka goes to infiltrate Figaro Castle

His laugh is great.

Kefka in Final Fantasy Dissidia - They're coming to take me away, Ha ha! (out in the UK in the Autumn, already out in the US I think - it involves a compilation of characters from the FF series - Kefka looks much the same, only a tad different).
PostPosted: Fri Jul 03, 2009 4:18 pm

Really? And here I thought you couldn't get more insane than Mr Joker.

Let's have a "look" at his laugh...
...gee, what an odd laugh. mrgreen
I guess that's from the original SNES version, huh?

Dissidia? That name sounds familiar for some reason. And not just cuz it sounds like the name of one of Phil Collins, songs, he-he. lol

Yes, it was from the SNES originally. ¬_¬'

Yeah, I figured as much...
I wonder when the folks at Square are gonna re-release the 6th one on the DS. Maybe they could make some kind of new feature compatible with the DSi like, the camera for example. Hey Mel! Can you imagine being able to take your picture and sort of blend it with that of a character in the game? Wouldn't that be cool? I think fans of Kefka might like such a feature.

Say, does anyone know the name of the main villain of FF4? I've started to play that one and it seems like I haven't reached as far to know it yet.
