It was just after mid-morning and it was raining in Di'jai. The pale grey clouds that allowed some sun through were pouring the sort of light rain that cools hot summer days onto the forest. It had been raining for some time now, and most everything was delicately drenched. Among the wet of the forest lay an Elder, stretched out by the roots of a large sycamore tree. She was silver-grey in color, with light green markings, and silver jewelry. She was completely drenched by the rain and appeared as though she'd been in that spot for a little while, fiddling idly with the curved blade of the dagger that hung from her neck.

Zelgius walked slowly through the forest his hair sticking to his face. He looked up at the clouds, sighing to himself. He was sure why he had decided to come out today, after all, rain only rusts armor. Zelgius caught a glimpse of gray. It was a female elder. Shrugging to himself, he moved closer; there was nothing against pleasant conversation was there?

"Some rain we're having aren't we?"

((Just so you know, bolded words are regular, spoken Amierian. Bolded and italicized are spoken snake. And italicized are thoughts.))

Seemingly unsurprised by the words behind her, the female turned her head around to see the newcomer. A male elder, by the looks of it, stood nearby, clothed in armor of a dark red color. The female stood slowly, her joints popping slightly from sitting still for so long, and let the dagger rest against her neck. As she turned around, it could now be seen that she had an emerald green snake coiled loosely around her throat. She gave a calm nod and replied, "Indeed. This rain is good for the forest." After a second of thought, she added, "Though not good for armor, I'd imagine." Her voice was soft and flowing, similiar to a sleeping snake.

He laughed setting his sword deep into the ground, "Yes. Armor and rain don't mix too well." Well, this female definitely had a thing for serpents. "I'm Zelgius." he bowed low and extended his hand, "You must like snakes." he smiled softly.

The female gave a chuckle and, with a sudden shimmer, shifted into her elven form, deciding to match this Zelgius. Standing barefoot at an average height, she now was a young woman with silver-green hair and pale skin. The green snake around her neck was now wrapped around her stomach, hissing, its golden eyes flashing angrily. The woman placed a long-fingered hand in the warrior's and gently shook it in greeting. "Pleased to meet you, Zelgius. I'm called Jatai. And this," she gestured to the angry snake," is Jewel." She gently stroked Jewel with her free hand and murmured, "Come now, Jewel. You can't tell me you weren't expecting that."

((Jatai's elven form, if you want to get a better picture.))

((She's cool 8D))

Zelgius blinked, confused, if he heard correctly, this woman was speaking snake? "Did you just-?" he motioned to Jewel. He shouldn't be surprised, for lders had many different abilities, but speaking a different language was completely new. "Didn't see that one coming." he muttered to himself. "Doesn't seem to like me either I'm presuming." Zelgius said eyeing the snake.

The emerald snake hissed back rather sulkily and Jatai's pale hands carefully lifted it up from her waist and repositioned it loosely around her neck. All the while, the two conversed in various hissing sounds, making it suddenly obvious that the woman possessed a forked tongue. When Jewel was back on her neck, Jatai turned back to Zelgius with an amused expression on her face while the snake turned its head almost snootily.

"To answer your earlier questions, sir, yes. I happen to adore snakes and serpents more than my own kind. And yes," she continued with a twinkle in her violet eyes, "I did just speak snake. It took me years and years, but I have finally mastered the language of my dear friends."

She gave a brisk nod and then stroked the viper, saying, "And Jewel has no problem with you. It is merely that she does not like when I change forms without telling her. It causes her to lose her grip and she slips."

'Not only did she speak snake, but she had a forked tongue as well.' he thought wryly. Zelgius nodded in agreement. "I guess I would be a bit surprised if the object I wrapped around changed forms suddenly." He strapped off his chest plate, placing it on top of the large roots. "The largest part of the armor always rusts first..." he said taking off his cape and wrapping it around the armor. "I should've worn something that wasn't so...high-maintenance today."
