Well I am really interested in an Australian shepherd. I am also looking at NSDTR, BC, APBT, Doberman pinscher. It won't be for about 2-3 years before I can get the puppy. I have done my research on many breeds and have narrowed it down to these 5 breeds. I am going to be doing Agility and possibly conformation with the dog. My mom has had experience with Dobbies because her family used to have them when she was younger and her uncle used to breed and show Dobermans(that's where they got them from). I love APBT's and have always wanted one. If I am unable to get one then I will just stick to visiting and playing with my uncles pit when we go down to visit.
I am going to be working on saving up my money for the puppy from babysitting and my summer Job. It won't be for a while though. We are planning on moving into a bigger house with a bigger yard which that would be a good size for 3 dogs in the next few years but hopefully next year. I just have to convince my dad to let me get one because he's planning on getting another boxer so who knows we may end up getting another boxer and an aussie.
We are a very active family we currently Hike and go jogging. Me and my sisters play soccer so the pup could come to the fields with us and the other dogs and have some fun.My mom is a stay at home mom and is self employed and my dad is also self employed. So the puppy will never be home alone unless we have to go out for a few hours. and if the puppy would have to stay home alone for a few hours then we put the dogs in their crates. Right now Abby is the only one we fully trust in the house because she about 4 now and is completely house trained and doesn't revert to destroy things when no one is around. Bo on the other hand is crated partially because hes only 1 and he's completely potty trained but we don't trust him in the house on his own because unlike Abby he will get into things. We have 2 dogs and a cat. They are a boxer and a lab mix. The puppy will be trained and loved by the whole family. I have 2 younger sisters one is 11 and the other is 5 going on 6. Now I know that Aussie's and Border collies are herding breeds and tend to try and herd younger children but thats ok because in our family we are used to it and we would correct the dog.
oh and if we have to go on long trips and the dogs can't come with us they stay with a family friend of ours and their dog. So all in all the puppy will usually have someone with him/her at all times unless we have to go out for a bit.
any experience with the breeds and advice on them would be greatly appreciated
Don't bash me any bashing will just be ignored.
I know for a fact that I will do Agility with the puppy and Abby and that I am considering conformation. I may get into some other sports but for now its going to be Agility and possibly conformation.
The puppy will be socialized and trained. He/she will get to meet my friends dogs which are a cockapoo named mocha, another cockapoo named ginger, a mutt named jasper or jazzy, a cocker spaniel, my neighbors 2 dogs who are both mixes from the shelter, all the other neighborhood dogs, and we will make some trips to the dog park for some fun and of course my other to babies.
here my choices
Aussie-Top choice
Border collie
Doberman Pinscher
NSTDR
APBT- 2nd choice
So over all the pup will be trained in Agility when old enough, possibly participate in conformation, socialized at a young age, go hiking and jogging with us, go to soccer games with the family, be able to play with all my friends dogs.
So if you have any info on the breeds it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Oh and the dog will most likely be on a raw food diet if not what would be the best food for him/her? Right now our current dogs our partly on raw.
Oh and wat do u think of this breeder
