Lunar Falcon
If they had no education the how come people remember them today as holding the trading routes of the world in fear and being a scourge even to the navies of the time. Pirates also have the freedom to do as they please with an independent spirit. Ninjas are tied to a lord and cannot disobey him or act without orders. Even the rogue ninjas have a defect because whomever they learned their skill from will hunt them down and kill them to stop their secrets from being lost. A ninja is a servant.
A servant yes, but a lethal servant nonetheless. I'm not saying Pirates were horrible at what they do, infact they were great at stealing, killing, raping, and pillaging villages, but that's mainly because they many in numbers. Hundreds of angry, testosterone driven, muscle bound soldiers on a single ship, that was probably stolen from the most right person in a village, or a part of a navy at one time.
