Just wondering how many of you guys are into wood working, and what kind of projects you've done.

Right now, my boyfriend and I are working on a coffee table for our new apartment.

So, what kinds of things have you guys built? What's your favorite type of wood?

I haven't done too much woodworking, but what I've done was either building frames for the garden, or building sets for plays/musicals. I use a screw gun and 2 by4's and plywood, so nothing really advanced lol

Woodworking you say? whee

By myself, i made a sign for my parents to go on their porch which says 'Bradfords 19F' with a wood carving set and paint x3

With my father, a bird feeder and 2 swings.
I dont know if my husband will share my love of wood working, but i will probably always do it on my own or with my father and brother ^^

To see some of my work, go to this thread!

@jaffa kreee: Most of my work has been in set construction, too. Mostly cutting pieces and raising walls, with occasional furnature making.

@PiercedPixie2: Your work is lovely!

I used to when I lived with my parents. My dad has all the tools. All I really have is hammer, handheld drill, and screwdrivers.

Most of my wood working projects were done in high school, but my dad's a contractor, so we have a lot of hand made items in our house.

I made two adirondack chairs, and a table. I don't know what happened to the table... Oh ya, and a jewelry box. I'll post pics later. We had stencils to work with and step by step instructions. So it was fairly easy. If you give me the stencils and all the tools I might be able to figure out how to do it again, but on my own I'm hopeless, wouldn't know where to start or what kind of wood to buy.

I might try carving some walking sticks.

It's more carpentry than woodworking here, although I've built lots of birdhouses for the bluebirds and purple martins, barstools, bookcases, an easel, tables and chairs for outdoor use, just stuff.

owo well, I've been doing carpentry since I could safely hold a saw with my dad, and I've built desks, bookshelves, heck, I even helped build my own room out here in the garage. I just love carpentry, and I have a hobby involving the making of wooden spears and toothpicks. However, I don't have a favorite type of wood, although pine is a great wood to use for furniture and houses. Basically I'm an apprentice handyman/carpenter/plumber/interior design/painter/electrician....though I don't do electrical lines and stuff much on my own...
