Tortie January 17, 2005
Three days ago, I was amazed and speechless.
I had been playing around in the Talaye V-day thread for most of the day and made many friends. There was a flatsale later in the night and I was hoping to nab a few spots for a couple of good friends. The time passed slowly, but chatting helped a lot. So many people started filing in, you knew it was nearing the start. Finally, the time was here. Buffynick posted a big "GO" and I jumped in as quickly as my computer would allow.
Unfortunately, I had posted about a page late. I laughed it off, as slow as I was, knowing there would be more chances in the future. I stayed in the thread, however, to congratulate the lucky few who received baskets. As I moved down the list, I saw many of my friends, happy that they were able to get one.
Then I saw it, my name on the list; I was dumbfounded and astonished. Practically shaking, I posted a HUGE thank you to my good friend, bran-chan who was unbelievably kind to give me my first ever Talaye basket. Not only was it a basket, but she had also customized it to my liking. I showered her with thanks at the thread but I had to AIM her my gratitude. I found out hints about it, making me all the more anxious to see my new little darling.
I immediately ran to read up on roleplaying in the guild and picked a perfect spot by the Silent River to RP.

Tortie February 13, 2005
It was quite early in the morning and the sun's warm rays were gliding gently past the fog-filled air. Tortie was sitting at the edge of 'Silent River', her socks off, playfully circling the water with her bare feet. Her basket was close beside her and she smiled as the ripples disrupted the calm morning stream.
That moment, she felt something soft brush against her arm. Startled, but curious, she looked down and there she found a tiny, furry arm dangling out the side of her basket. An ear perked out from beneath the blanket next, the coloring matched the arm beautifully. Before long, an adorable face (eyes closed) and two arms popped out from the now crowded basket. Tortie couldn't help but reach toward the blanket and lift it up over the Talaye's neck. Two teal eyes opened, sparkling, and gazed toward Tortie's. Their eyes met and for the first time, Tortie looked down at her tiny female.
"Tenrai," the first word she spoke to the ball of fluff was her new name. It was translated from Japanese, meaning 'sound of wind; beautiful poetry'. The gray tinged fur seemed to dance with the calm wind that was now blowing through the fog. "You," she whispered hesitantly, "are beautiful." Tears were forming in Tortie's blue eyes; she could not believe this was what was inside of the basket she had been holding for so long. She reached inside and pulled out a less-than-one-foot newborn, carefully placing it within her arms. She placed her nose onto the soft fur that lined the top of the Talaye's little head and blew gently, a sort of bonding blow that would soon become a symbol of love.
