Staying out of the fight and other discussions, a lame runnerbeast was food nothing else. It was cruel bit of life, but it was what it was. Ruth got her attention, for a moment. Life was rough for him, from what she understood. Finally she decided to try and bring some middle grown between the many at the table. "Death is a part of live, for dragons all the way to humans; to speak of it off handily is disrespect to what was never born." That was her stand, it happened and it was bad, but it was.

That talk of Harpers could get messy too, "A man who compares his worth to another will always come up short." Let them do with it as they will that as they will. Hopefully if anyone thinks of it, they will think this argument is pointless and go back to being calmer.

Returning Cil's smile, she was happy to see him wave back. Elae further emphases that they hand't forgotten her. Likely they are just as or more busy then she. "I was beginning to think you and Cil had shied off of the idea, its good to see you both again." That was as close as her teasing would go on a table full of strangers.

Watching the little green flit, she made the mistake of thinking of Keek. The little blue appeared from between. He didn't look to Raena, food was too much to avoid. Down he went to nab what he could.

If Ferris's ego were an actual, physical thing, it would be glowing; her sharp and honest tongue and ego thrived on responses such as laughter, and she smiled in spite of herself. But that was controlled quickly and she looked at Mal as he went on about different topics.

" 'Wrong notes'; Harper pun, I presume?" she comment-questioned quickly before she gave a small nod about Ruth. She opened her mouth to say more, but when the young man started going on about... fipple-whatevers, Ferris quickly let her attention slide and she immediately rounded on the other man who had flicked her ear.

She brought her neck back and gave a look of confusion and annoyance at Terroll. "You think its funny to randomly flick a girl's ear, huh?" she questioned him seriously, having not heard his comment that would've explained to her that he was a Harper and not... some random dude. "Punching, sure, that's hilarious, but flickin' an ear?"

She picked up her spoon and arched that brow again while furrowing the other, the utensil pointed at him. "Do that again and you'll never fipple any flute for the rest of your life."

Maranan tapped his finger on his lap and hummed a sea song to himself in between eating his food. He was tired, but he was feeling good.
He had no idea if he would ever impress, but he loved all this talk. He felt better hearing everyone betting, and laughing and talking. He felt like he was back on the ship again. He was happy. He stopped humming to take a large bite of bread and smiled to himself.

Terroll laughed, "He's just being a dimglow - you don't know the joke - our old Piper-Master used to call the single pipe a "fipple flute" - only Faranth knows why. So there used to be a competition to see how many times you could get him to say fipple flute in a single lesson. And woe betide anyone who dared laugh."

He smiled merrily at Ferris, now that she'd reacted. "Did you say that a Harper made your ears hurt? Oh Shards! If it helps, know that you shan't be the last." He roared with laughter at his own joke. Even if he was poking fun, he meant it in the best possible manner. He was also shameless when it came to hording attention from women - even younger ones.

Kella shut her mouth smartly and stared down into her bowl of stew. What she was saying made perfect sense to her, so why was everyone else getting so offended by it? The young girl shook her head and sighed. A deformed dragon couldn't fight thread, and that was the main purpose of dragons. So... why would anyone want one? Then a voice caught her attention, as well as the mocking tone that Kella inferred. Ferris wasn't speaking in any sort of mocking way, but that's how the younger girl implied what she said. Scowling, Kella refrained from retorting. I hope she gets stuck with some ugly, deformed, stupid dragon, she thought of Ferris. That'd teach her! She hoped anyone who'd spoken out against her opinion got stuck with some lame beast.

As soon as Kella was finished with her meal, she gathered up her empty dishes and stood. She remained there for a brief moment, looking at all the faces seated at the table around her. Frowning, she shook her head and moved off. She was stubborn, and refused to even consider any of their points, regardless of whether they made sense or not. Kella was young, and strong-willed; in her mind, she was the only one who was right.
