Subject #237 (Andrik) notes:

Subject #237 has displayed a willful and aggressive nature since his capture three months ago. There has been more than one report of his having attacked a scientist or an assistant. As of now he hasn’t seriously injured anyone, however. Considering the subjects feral nature when he was captured such aggression is not unexpected. What is unexpected is his rapid development of language skills. The subject already speaks English as if he had been doing it his whole life. Where as most feral children never fully learn to speak, if at all. On the day of his arrival at the facilities #237 was especially hostile, attacking anyone that got close to him. We were prepared to tranquilize the subject when another subject, #223, approached him. We were panicked, #223 is our best subject and we didn’t want to see her injured by what promised to be a mediocre subject at best. Contrary to our fears, however, subject #237 embraced subject #223. We have puzzled over the recordings of their first encounter many times. As yet we haven’t determined if there was any form of exchange between the two. Perhaps it was just an instinctual response to a female from #237? Regardless subject #223’s test scores have increased dramatically since the arrival of subject #237. Subject #237 himself has scored above and beyond our expectations. Still the obvious bonding between the two is subject of great debate. Some insist the two should be separated out of fear that subject #237 will eventually lash out at subject #223. Others claim that separating them would cause subject #237 to lash out at everyone. With subject #237’s volatile nature I believe he will lash out no matter what we do. So I’ve decided to wait until we’re sure the mental constraints have taken hold before we make any firm decision on the matter and to allow the two subjects to continue as they will. Not very surprisingly none of the other subjects have taken a liking to #237 and generally avoid him.

Subject #223 (Andreasa) notes:

The acquisition Subject #223 four months ago was a great boon to our studies. The subject has proved exceptionally gifted. The subject has also been exceptionally compliant, performing tests without the slightest complaint. Subject #223 was located in a foster facility so perhaps her time in child services has made the subject more accepting of adverse situations? Her bonding with Subject #237 would defiantly support this theory. Before the arrival of subject #237, subject #223 spent her free time interacting with the other subjects, playing, conversing, and other such juvenile activities. Now, however, she spends all her free time with subject #237. Often the pair can be found in a room by themselves reading a text book of some kind. Subject #237 has a voracious curiosity which subject #223 seems more than happy to indulge has she has to do most of the reading. (In spite of his language skills subject #237 is a poor reader at best.) The situation between #223 and #237 has created a bit of a stir among the other subjects who are apparently jealous of subject #237’s monopolization of subject #223. We would intervene, but there is concern for how #237 would react. Additionally the correct view of the situation is that subject #223 is monopolizing subject #237. The other subjects are simply unwilling to be near #237 just to spend time with #223.

Andrik and Andreasa looked up at the same time as the orderlies entered the room. There were six of them all together and they made a half circle around the front of the couch the pair were sitting on. Andreasa slowly closed the book and set it to one side as the men parted slightly to make room for Dr. Kadrid. “Having fun?” the doctor asked with a smile. “What do you want?” Andrik asked in response. Though his voice was calm there was an edge to it, it was the way he spoke to everyone besides the girl beside him. Andreasa gently laid a hand on Adric’s shoulder and looked up at Dr. Kadrid saying, “I though we didn’t have any tests today.” “You don’t,” Dr. Kadrid said his smile slipping. “Then go away,” Andrik said reaching for the book. With a sigh Dr. Kadrid nodded. The nearest orderly immediately grabbed Andrik by the wrist and hauled him off the couch. A second orderly immediately grabbed his other arm and the two of them forced the boy to the floor. “LET GO OF ME!” Andrik shouted as he struggled against the two men. As Andrik continued to struggle and growl Andreasa slowly rose to her feet.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“It has been decided,” Dr. Kadrid said ignoring the commotion on the floor beside him, “That you are to be moved to another facility.”
“Why?”
“For more intensive testing and to get you away from #237, letting you two interact is a risk we are no longer willing to take.”
“Andrik would never hurt me.”
“He is openly hostile to everyone but you. How much do you think it would take to make that change?”
“Andrik. Would never. Hurt me.”
Dr. Kadrid sighed and nodded his head again. One of the orderlies gently placed a hand on Andreasa’s shoulder. “We really had hoped things wouldn’t have to go like this,” Dr. Kadrid said almost regretfully.
While three orderlies remained to keep an eye on Andrik the doctor and the others guided Andreasa out of the room. “Really number 223 eventually you’ll understand that this was the best course of action,” Dr. Kadrid said as he left the room. As he spoke both of the psychics had a brief flash of what was planed for the girl. The only clear image was of a very large knife. “Andrik!” Andreasa called out suddenly fearful.
Andrik went into a rage at both the vision and Andreasa’s call for help. “GET OFF ME!” he roared. At the same time the third orderly grabbed the other two by the hair and slammed their heads together. Before the man could realize what he’d just done Andrik was off the floor his palm slamming into the man’s jaw. The man hit the floor with a thud and didn’t look to be getting back up.

Hearing the commotion back in the room Dr. Kadrid said, “You get the girl out of here. You two go see what’s happening.” The two orderlies turned around just in time to see Andrik come charging out of the room. The young man ran right into one of the orderlies knocking the wind from the man’s lungs tackling him to the ground. Andrik rolled away from the orderly before he could recover and get a hold of him. Finding himself lying on his back in front of the second orderly, Andrik lashed out with his foot, kicking the man in the crotch. The man doubled over and collapsed to the floor. Andrik then rolled back toward the first orderly and brought his hand down in a chop on the man’s throat just has the man was getting back up.
Tearing his eyes away from the display of violence, Dr. Kadrid turned to see the last orderly standing frozen beside Andreasa. “What are you doing?” the doctor shouted, “I said get the girl out of here!” The pounding of feet was the only warning of Andrik’s approach and the doctor cringed at the expected blow. Instead Dr. Kadrid watched as Andrik ran past him and slammed into the last orderly sending the man sprawling to the floor. Breathing heavily he grabbed Andreasa by the hand and the pair began to run. As the two psychics disappeared around a corner Andreasa shot a last icy look back at the doctor. the girl’s voice echoed in the doctor’s head.
