I have this project that I'm working on for religion class and we had to pick a song and interpret it based on its lyrics. I'm stuck on the 5th lyrics line that says, "Touched down on the cold black top, hold on for the sudden stop" I'm slightly at a loss for what this means. Anyone got any suggestions? Much appreciated, thank you!

I could be wrong, but I think at the beginning of the song he's on an airplane and in that line the airplane is landing. This explains why he was looking down from the sky in the first line. Then when he gets to the airport there's a bunch of people going different places which is why it says "All those people going somewhere" in another line.

So you're saying that "cold black top" is the landing pad for the plane? That would make sense if it is.
