Kita nods lightly. "Payment on completion. Since a shirt would only take a couple days to make, there's not much point in paying part of it now." And that would be when his master would start talking the customer into thinking of something else to buy on top of their order. He didn't remember any teaching about that.. art back at the Hall, so perhaps the man taught himself or was just naturally a convincing person.

"Well as long as no one gets in trouble, it would be alright I guess. I'd worry over Thell getting caught if she tried stealing food though. Not very likely, I'm sure but she's not the most cunning flit. Her begging pays off pretty well in the end, and it can be funny to see her nearly clean someone's plate for them by having them feed her." And pretty cute, when she pulled it off right. The flit seems to get the tone of voice being used and gives a happy chirp over at them, expecting a nice treat of something tasty.

L'thor smiled and nodded; he hadn't actually brought any marks with him so he would have had to sent one of his flits off to retrieve his stash of money. He doubted either of them were quite smart enough to differentiate between the denominations so he would have ended up trying to count through a whole handful of marks, which would have been frustrating... Speaking of retrieving things.... Shards, he was supposed to have brought V'kain's shirt in to be fixed. Whilst he was perfectly capable of fixing a hem, reattaching a sleeve that had got torn off was beyond him.

"River, Dusk over here," he called the flits. River flitted to his shoulder right away, and Dusk soon stirred and joined him. Frowing in concentration, L'thor gave them both the image of the rusty-red coloured garment and a feeling of desiring it. The pair of blues paused for a moment before taking wing and vanishing.

Once they were gone, L'thor gave Kita a grin. "Knew I'd forgotten something; I've sent them off to find my friend's shirt that needs the left sleeve stitched back on. I don't know how it got torn off," he added with a chuckle, "V'kain won't tell me, he seems to be a bit embarrassed about the whole affair." Just as he finished speaking, Dusk and River popped back into the shop holding the shirt between them. L'thor accepted it with a flit-like trill of thanks before setting it down on the workbench.

"The cloth doesn't seem to be too badly damaged," L'thor went on as Dusk and River flew back over to Thell with cheeps of greeting. "I know if I tried to fix it though it'd all bunch up horribly. How much more for fixing it?"

Kita looks confused for a moment when L'thor calls his flits back. And more so when they leave the shop without him. "Oh, a repair? Reattaching a sleeve isn't too difficult if the tear is a clean one." He nods lightly and steps a bit closer to examine the shirt. "I don't recognize the seamwork on the front, was this made out of the Weyr? It doesn't really matter, it looks simple enough to mimic for getting the sleeve back on, and the damage is really very minimal, you're right." Though he did start wondering what could pull a sleeve off like that.

"This wouldn't cost any more than one and a quarter mark. You can pick it up with your shirt in a couple days, or if your friend needs it sooner you could always see if one of your flits would be willing to come get it." He chuckles faintly and glances at the blues again.

Thell chirps happily back at them and stretches her wings to lift off and flit towards the pair in a wide circle. "I'm actually surprised she hasn't started begging for food yet. I'd promised her a treat for helping me find the needle she hid from me."

L'thor smiled and shook his head. "No, he can wait a while to have it back. I might hold it ransom until he tells me what it was he did to lose a sleeve actually." V'kain would crack in the end, he always did. "I think he got it at a gather a couple of turns ago," L'thor added as he looked down at the stitching. "Or was it one I got him? Hum, I don't know. Hardly matters anyway."

Thinking about it, chances were it had been him to acquire it. V'kain never willingly spent marks on himself, he wouldn't have bothered to get anything half as nice for himself... Oh yes, he remembered now; it had been an Ista hold gather, and he'd got a sky blue shirt for D'los at the same time. Felt like forever ago, but in reality it had only been about a turn and a half.

"Perhaps she's showing off how well behaved she is to the boys," L'thor suggested after a moment with a chuckle, pushing the suddenly strong recollection to the back of his mind. "Well, that or she's just distracted by them. I expect mine will start wanting food soon too, must have been at least and hour since they last ate anything."

Kita can't help but laugh a bit at that. "Hold the shirt ransom? Well, I haven't heard that one before." He grins lightly at the rider. "A gather? That sounds likely, so many other merchants and tailors go to them to sell." A little nod and he takes a few notes down on his bench for the shirt.

"Thell showing off? Well I suppose she could be, she loves attention. Being distracted kind of sounds a little more likely though, her attention span isn't quite there. Unless she's looking for a new place to hide something then I can't get her focus away from that." But he would admit secretly that it was fun to hunt for things after she managed to hide them, unless it was a busy day.

L'thor's eyes sparkled mischievously at that. "Ah, there are a lot of things I do that people haven't heard of happening before. I do enjoy being just a little bit different, it makes life so much more interesting for me." Watching people try to second guess him when he hadn't even decided what to do or say yet was endlessly entertaining. Contrary for the sake of contrariness, that was him.

"Mmmh, contrary for the sake of causing as much havoc as possible more like. You're never satisfied unless you're doing something somebody somewhere would rather you weren't," Raith put in.

"Well, I can't help getting bored easily now can I?" L'thor replied. "I have to find something to do with the copious free time we have at the minute. You might be able to laze most of it away, but I'd go mad if I wasn't always doing something." He just wasn't a sitting still person. Perhaps that had come from his childhood as a trader, seldom in one place for more than a week or so and always with plenty of chore to occupy him.

"New places to hide things, new things to steal, new places to explore, and food when it's in sight," L'thor went on as River stuck his head into the torn off sleeve. "Silly thing," he chuckled, poking the intrepid sleeve explorer. "Come out of there before you tear it." River squeaked indignantly but back up in any case, and ruffled his wings as if to say the sleeve hadn't been all that interesting in any case.

Kita manages to chuckle lightly at that. "I can take your word on that." Really it would suit the personality he could see so far of the rider, and L'thor had mentioned enjoying when his flit stole food right in front of people. "As long as life stays interesting then."

He glances down at the shirt and stifles his own laugh. "I doubt he would do it any harm though, really. The fabric looks pretty sturdy." Thell takes the moment to squeak at them and dive down to perch on the workbench herself for some attention. "Ah, she thinks he's stealing her attention in here I think."

L'thor chuckled as Dusk joined the group of flits on the bench and stroked his pair affectionately. Yes, they were good and handsome flits and tomorrow he would go out and get them some more of their favourite spicy dried meat. The pair of blues crooned at him and sprung into the air to swoop around him a few times and then to land on his shoulders and nose at his face. Ah, easily won affection; he did like people who were easy to please.

"We apologise Thell," he said a moment later, reaching down to stroke the green, "I can assure you neither of us had any intention of neglecting such a great and magnificent beauty as yourself."

Kita watches him mildly amused as he gives his attention to the flits. "It's quite cute to watch flits behaving like that, affectionate with their bonded." Thell chirps up at them still feeling left out a bit.

The green flit perks up almost instantly at the stroking though and spreads her wings out. The little green croons happily at the nice tone of voice added into it. "I think she forgives you now. Actually, you might have made a new friend the way she's acting at the moment." He chuckles lightly and watches the content green's behavior.

L'thor shot a grin over at Kita before turning his attention back onto Thell. "Well I do hope so," he said as he fussed over her, "I would be honored to have such a pretty little lady as my friend."

"Are you flirting with other greens?" Raith asked mock accusingly. "If you're not careful I'll start giving all my attention to other men, see how you like it. Perhaps you and the pale boy can swap, you have the little one and he can have me."

L'thor chuckled and shook his head. "Ratih-love, you are the light of my life and you know it, so stop fishing for compliments. I'll make a fuss of you later on, okay?" Turning back to Kita, the rider rolled his eyes. "Raith is now accusing me of flirting with Thell. She proposes a swap between us, but somehow I can't see her fitting in here very comfortably and I don't think Thell would make a very good steed." It was strange how greens were considered small, and yet couldn't fit comfortably inside most rooms within the Weyr. Your perspectives got a little bit warped if you were often around the bigger dragons, he supposed. Everything was small when compared to a queen dragon.

Thell gives a happy little chirp and soaks in the attention like a sponge. A hyper, needy sponge. "She does seem to like you a good deal doesn't she, she hardly ever gets so much attention from visitors to the shop."

Kita looks from the flit to L'thor once he hears the chuckle, and looks a good bit confused for a moment before his words fully sink in. A laugh of his own escapes before he can control it. "Oh dear, I don't think it would work out too well at all. I do hope you make it up to her then for challenging her affections." A grin at his little try at a joke and Kita's attention is down to Thell again. "And really, I doubt she'd have the attention span for being a steed as well, something shiny and she'd ignore any instructions to go after it."

L'thor grinned at the mental image and shook his head. "Yes, I can see that being a disadvantage. Get me shouted at by my wingleader no end, the uptight wherry-head." It really was unfair of him to be so sharp and judgmental about all bronze riders, but he couldn't bring himself to care. The bulk of them thought they were better than him on some level even if they never expressed it. He had yet to meet a bronze rider willing to befriend him, but perhaps that was because he was predisposed to being unpleasant to them. Pompous and ridiculous looking as a lord-holder's son perching up on a big lumbering watchwher.

"They're not that bad," Raith sent with a gentle rumble. "Some of them are really quite bearable."

"Pah. Most think they're too good to chase you, and those who do give it a go practically throw tantrums when beaten by 'lesser' colours. Proud dragons bond to proud men and the whole becomes prouder than the sum of the parts. They might be good people, but that doesn't make them any less proud and pompous and doesn't mean I have to like them." Time he put them out of his head though. Time he was going really.

L'thor sighed and gave Thell a final tickle under the chin. "I'm afraid I really must go now," he said as he turned to Kita, "I have other things to sort out before win drills later on. I'll come back in three days time to pick up the shirts if that suits you?"

Kita says nothing about the Wingleader, as it really isn't his place to put an opinion in. Especially given he doesn't even know who the man is, besides. "Well knowing her, she might like the shouting since it would be attention. She's a little odd at times, really." But what firelizard wasn't odd at times or.. all the time?

Thell trills up at him before spreading her wings and squeaking at the two blue flits as if to say 'bye' to them. Kita nods. "Alright, and three days will be enough time for your shirt and the repairs on his to be finished, yes."

L'thor smiled and nodded; "Good, thank you. I'll see you in a few days then. Come on boys," he trilled at the pair of blue flits, "tear yourselves away from your lovely companion now." Dusk and River cheeped in return to Thell before lofting gracefully into the air. Dusk soon settled on L'thor's shoulder, but River continued to flit around above his head.

"Enjoy the rest of your day then," L'thor said with a smile as Dusk draped his tail about his next. Giving the apprentice a last nod, the rider turned about and set off back to his weyr to carry out some harness maintenance, and to make a fuss of his dragon. River carried out one last circuit of the tailor shop before squeaking a farewell and zooming after him.
