Solmur'ss had been closing in on the doorway to the stairs when he risked a glance backwards at his brother. Praise Lolth! The warrior had been catching up much faster than Sol had been hoping, but somehow his footing had slipped.
This time, Solmur'ss did not stop nor look back until he made it unto the rooftop. He took a quick pause for breath while considering which direction to go from there. He couldn't hear anyone behind him, but now the city was competing for his attention so he would have to decide quickly. The drow's mind was racing.
The young bounty hunter was confident about the prospect of making it safely out of the city. What was Chasz going to do? He would likely rather return home than trail Sol through the slums further. Sol grunted. 'Or I hope he will.. I've been wanting to get away from this place for a while haven't I? By the Goddess this is a perfect excuse to not come home! Chasz will explain to the Matron and she won't be too surprised.. Maybe that's a bad thing, but I'm only a male and a shebali at that, her expectations can't be too high.'
His Matron would be furious at first but surely she knew him well enough to realize he meant no harm to his house. He never did mean to do anything like this, yet today was not the first time Sol had been guilty of getting in too far over his head.
Despite the night's pain, Solmur'ss grinned at this train of thought. His bright eyes surveyed the teeming mass of the city. His penchant for chaos was sated. He looked at the rooftops nearby. That one was too high. That one too far away. The other too steep.. Only one roof would provide a fair landing. That would be it. Wherever his destination was, it was going to be in that direction. So much for plans!
