khryssie___x M'zaji, too, found it strange that he had had such easy conversation with this woman. In most situations, he was socially awkward, and could not draw out a conversation past small talk. But, he had spent the entire day talking to this one person! He blushed just thinking about how much time they'd spent together. But, he had really enjoyed Seryes' company and looked forward to seeing her around the weyr. He looked towards her, a smile across his face. He laughed at her remark, about cursing the weyrfolk out for just one more cup of klah. "It was really nice meeting you, and talking with you, Seryes," he said as friendly as he could msuter. "But, I should probably be heading back to the Weyr. Do you need a ride? Kaedrelath won't mind bringing you back~ unless, you have other arrangements?" The offer of a rider to Seryes was on impulse; he had not even considered the idea before the words left his mouth, but he knew Kaedrelath would not mind another passenger. "I didn't bring Sersk' if that's what you mean." She laughed slightly, grinning again at the offer. "It was too bright, he would have been miserable." This among other reasons for not bringing the watch-wher to the gather, though he could have easily gone between. "If that's alright with you though, I wouldn't mind. In fact I'd love it." Surely that was innocent enough. He already knew she loved dragons, which sort of reduced the social awkwardness of riding home with a semi stranger at night.

The bluerider laughed as Seryes denied bringing her Wher, but while he laughed he realized that it must be tough. He and Kaedrelath did everything together, and went everywhere together. They were inseparable! M'zaji did not know how he'd cope with having to leave Kaedrelath behind, ever. But M'zaji did not let the thought put a damper on his night.
Kaedrelath was more than happy to have an extra passenger on the trip back home. The blue warbled a greeting to Seryes, his voice rich, throaty, and friendly. M'zaji grinned and beckoned for Seryes to approach, and return the greeting. The bluerider then checked the riding straps, and hoisted himself up, using Kaedrelath's extended foreleg as a step up. "Just do what I did, you won't hurt him," M'zaji assured the woman, and leaned down to offer her his hand.

She missed the companionship of her Wher, but Sersk would have found the daylight painful, and the entire experience wouldn't have been as pleasant for him. He could go between like a dragon, and even fly, which had surprised some, since Dragons cast such a broad shadow it was easy to miss such amazing qualities in their stockier, uglier cousins. She grinned again at the huge dragons warble, looking him over slowly. "They look so much more delicate and fragile." She admitted, taking his hand as she broke away from her study of the dragon. "Thank you. This is very considerate of you." She added, following his path to the dragons back. Much more delicate but also taller, larger.

As soon as Seryes was comfortably sitting behind M'zaji on Kaedrelath's neck, the bluerider turned around and fastened his passenger's safety harness securely. He smiled at her reassuringly, then handed her a spare helmet and goggles. "A smart rider keeps extra gear in his bags," M'zaji said with a quick smile, patting the bags attached to the riding straps.
After putting on his own helmet and goggles, and double checking the straps, M'zaji gave Kaedrelath the signal to fly. The signal was part-mental, part-physical. The blue leapt skywards, throwing his great wings open and pumping them to lift higher. M'zaji grinned, as he did at every take-off. Flying with his dragon was the most sensational, exhilarating, and singularly most joyful moment in his life. "Hold on!" The bluerider yelled to Seryes just before he gave Kaedrelath the signal to go between.
One.
Two.
Three.
Three heartbeats later, the blue dragon erupted over Ista Weyr, his dark hide nearly indiscernible from the now-night sky. He trumpeted a greeting to the watch dragon, and received one in return. Kaedrelath held his wings steady and rigid, gliding down to land smoothly on the Bowl floor. M'zaji turned around to grin at his passenger. "There! Home safe! I'm sure Sersk will be glad to see you in one piece."

She pulled down her goggles, wide eyed, as they emerged above Ista Weyr, chillded from the jump between, but exhilarated. Since her work with Sersk had not so far required it, it was still a new and novel experience for her, and so much different than working with the solid Wher. "I'm sure he will be, if disappointed I didn't bring him any treats!" She noted, glancing back with an huge grin, completely unrefined, spread across her face. "I'm surprised you people ever land!" She was tired, exhausted even, from spending the day working at an different schedule, when usually she adapted for Sersk's needs, having no reason to socialize, but she was exhilarated and she knew her own companion knew it too, and was awake in his own 'den'. More of an closed off part of her own quarters, sealed to keep out the light so he could rest peacefully. "Oh it's a beautiful night, and it's been a marvelous day."

M'zaji dismounted first, then helped Seryes down~ all after he had removed their flying gear and returned it to his bags. The bluerider smiled at the woman warmly, grateful that he had spent so much time with her. M'zaji didn't have many friends, so he enjoyed the rare days where he was able to be expressive and social. Oftentimes he had trouble finding the right words, and felt awkward. "Thanks for walking the gather with me," M'zaji said to his companion with a grin. "I don't think I could've had a better time," he insisted to her. Kaedrelath echoed his riders sentiments with a throaty trill, happy that his rider had had such a pleasant time.

She brushed at her hair again awkwardly, grin still wide and bright, nearly as much so as her blush, for which she was thankful for the darkness. "Me either. I hope we can do it again some time." She said. There was a faint rush of cold air as Sersk appeared, shorter than his dragon cousin, but broad and heavy. In another worlds terms it would have been like comparing an bulldog to a saluki. His huge eyes and smaller wings made him look even more awkward and ungainly as he trundled toward Seryes and M'zaji, eyes on the huge dragon with an sort of 'by your leave' demeanor. It was hard to make out the Watch-wher's real color in the dark, but in the light from the moon he looked so dark a blue he almost matched the night sky. He glanced between the lot of them and them pressed his nose possessively against Seryes hand, and she unconsciously scratched his eye-ridges with an smile. "Welcoming committee." She laughed. "Are the two of you going to be alright? Sersk and I are used to the dark." She didn't, she admit, want the day to end quite yet.

Kaedrelath was surprised, to say the least, as Sersk's sudden arrival. The blue dragon warbled with curiosity, dipping his head down to sniff at the Wher. The dragon, like his rider, had never encountered a Wher before. Kaedrelath knew all he did about his photophobic cousins from sharing a linked mind with M'zaji. Though, in all reality, M'zaji knew very little about Whers. They did not enjoy sunlight, they were awkward and heavy-looking (from what he'd heard), and flew only at night.
"We're fine in the dark," M'zaji assured his friend. The moonlight was sufficient enough to light the bowl, and it wasn't like the really needed to see where they were. The quartet of humans, dragon, and wher were just standing around in the Bowl. The bluerider, also, did not want to return to his weyr just yet. He wasn't tired, and to be honest, he was not looking forward to the company of his roommate. The green dragon who shared Kaedrelath's ledge was cordial and friendly enough, but her rider was messy, absent-minded, and sometimes rude. M'zaji did not enjoy his company. So, it was an easy decision to remain with Seryes. "How d'you feel about some klah?" He asked her, gesturing towards the kitchens. "I'm feeling a bit cold," he admitted, crossing his arms over his chest. But then the bluerider remembered Sersk's recent arrival, and frowned. The Wher probably wouldn't want to leave Seryes' side just yet, not after spending the whole day apart from her.

"Klah would be wonderful, maybe we can find someplace warm to go sit for a while." She agreed, scratching the wher's eye ridge gently, though she moved her hand back to pat his thick, muscular neck and let the dragon examine his stocky cousin, and Sersk raised his head to examine the dragon in return. "Sorry Sersk, I didn't bring you anything special." She added in apology to the watch-wher, at which the Wher made a curious grunt, bumping her gently with his shoulder, and eying M'zaji.

M'zaji laughed and shrugged, squinting slightly to look at the wher in the moonlight. "Sorry buddy, I don't have anything for ya either," he apologized and reached out his hand tentatively for the wher to sniff. Kaedrelath warbled encouragingly, mentioning something privately to the wher about a trip to the feeding grounds. That made M'zaji furrow his eyebrows; where did Sersk eat? He had never seen the wher at the feeding grounds eating, but then again, the wher was nocturnal. M'zaji and Kaedrelath were not.
"Would Sersk like to take a trip with Kaedrelath? He's hungry, and could eat a beast or two," M'zaji suggested warmly. The dragon and the wher could keep eachother company while M'zaji and Seryes retreated to the warmth and light of the lower caverns for their klah.
