I would like to make it known first off that I do not profess to know everything, or even quite a bit, about the subject of which this thread is discussing, but I still find the arguments involved quite enlightening.
Also, this thread is not for arguing moot points so much as bringing together information regarding the main ideas and discussing them learnedly.

Now, I have some knowledge on the following topics, though am far from omniscient in regards to any:
quantum teleportation
Quantum mechanics
space-time mechanics

The following I have but an inkling of an idea, but no real knowledge:
string theory
quark mass dependence
light theory
quantum critical opalescence (sp?)

If there is anything you want to add to the list, feel free to bring it up at any point in time, but bring some articles, eh?

Quantum teleportation:
http://www.upscale.utoronto.ca/GeneralInterest/Harrison/QuantTeleport/QuantTeleport.html
The above article is fairly short, so it won't take forever and a day to read through. ^^;

Quantum Mechanics:
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/qm/
The above is incredibly long, though there's a nice index for specific portions. Sorry if your eyes melt before you finish reading it.

For space-time mechanics, I read The Universe in a Nutshell, by Stephen W. Hawking, but I'll try and find an article that relates the same ideas... It's gonna be hard, though... sweatdrop

As for the others, I wouldn't know what to look for, so if anyone knows about them, feel free to share. x3

Anyhow, read up and discuss! And have fun! scream

Well, there is also quantum field theory to look into, practically uses string theory to base the fact that there are these huge fields that practically set the universe, like a blank webpage that still needs to be scripted. We can add as much script as we want but at one point we run out of space. The theory says that atoms and matter are all just waves in these gigantic fields and as the fields resonate(complying with string theory) they create a basis or a matter field. It's cool to know that there is someone else interested in finding the truth on gaia.

The main problem with quantum teleportation is that the matter is destroyed programmed and then recreated. Many religions would be against this and the government would never authorize this safe for humans to use. We would also need the technology to turn molecules into other molecules or just have every different type of DNA in the world already programmed and in great supply. As long as we are held back by the government, religion, and practicality quantum teleportation will just be a dream never realized. I know we can transfer atoms but it would take a large amount of energy to recreate an entire body, and your brain would practically go blank for a little while, this break could make the brain freak out and it might even stop your heart or breathing. Another problem is that the only reason quantum mechanics exists is because atoms are all made from the same stuff and they're practically identical in nature putting respect on the fact that atoms are everywhere all the time. So we can't really measure these atoms and this makes us need calculations to harness the true power of quantem manipulation.
