please, you don't want an eating disorder, so no throwing up.
just give up all junk food and goodies (candy, soda etc), take a loot at the ingredients when you are about to buy/consume a food. if there's a lot of stuff you don't know about - it's probably not good for you.
also decrease the amount of carbs and eat more veggies.

1. Drink at least 64 ounces of "water" every day. "Water" is any liquid that doesn't contain alcohol or caffeine. Soup, milk, juice, caffeine free (diet) sodas, or yes, actual water.
2. Eat at least two servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables per day. Vegetables don't include the starchy ones (potatoes, rice, beans, peas).
3. Eat two to four starch servings per day. That includes potatoes, rice, beans, peas, pasta, bread. It's better to have whole-grain products, brown rice, and so on than the "white" versions, because the white versions of rice and pasta don't have nearly as much fiber and aren't nearly as high in vitamins.
4. Eat two to four servings of protein per day. That includes meat, fowl, fish, eggs, fat-free dairy products, and tofu/tempeh.
5. Increase whatever activity level you currently have. Get off the bus one stop early; take one flight of stairs before getting on the elevator to go the other nine floors; pick up items out of your grocery sack, lift them overhead a couple of times, and then put them away. Do little, small, cute, sustainable-long-term things.
6. Devote fifteen minutes to vigorous activity, once a week for a month. Then make it twice a week for a month. Then make it twenty minutes, twice a week. Every month, add five minutes to your time OR one more day to your total (up to five days a week: you need two non-consecutive days in which to rest, or your body will not build strength and muscle tone).
7. ONCE per week, have a SMALL treat. A half-cup serving of ice cream won't set you back that far with calories and fat, and will make you realize that after all, you can still have what you want -- but in reasonable amounts, and at reasonable frequency.
8. When you mess up, as you'll do eventually if you're a human being, FORGIVE YOURSELF. Don't starve yourself at the next couple of meals, don't get all down on yourself. Say, "Well, I messed up and had three pieces of cake at that wedding last night. I still need breakfast." And grab your apple and yogurt (or whatever) and go on with your life.
9. Weigh yourself at the same time of day, on the same day each week. I do mine on Sunday mornings when I first wake up. Record it every time -- keep a chart, a notebook, an Excel spreadsheet, whatever is easiest for you. It'll keep you honest.
10. Every time you gain weight, acknowledge it and move on. Every time you lose weight, celebrate it (not with food, please). I notice that people who celebrate even the tiniest loss are often the ones who keep losing, while people who mourn each gain while failing to celebrate each loss are often the ones who get discouraged and give up.
11. Keep a food diary. "If you bite it, write it." It'll keep you honest.
12. Find a support group. You've already got one here on Gaia; Weight Watchers is another great one, and their system is proven to work really beautifully. Hey, I lost 60 pounds by them.

have a clear, precise plan of what you are going to do. Dont just say "im going to diet", have a plan- "im going to eat x more, not eat y at all, make sure i get so much of this a day". Having a precise plan helps keep you on track and spot where things might be going wrong
