Cirrus laid on his back somewhere near the base of mt. Kapu. It was a nice day with a few clouds in the sky, but sunny overall. The little normal Palui was quietly watching the clouds roll by on such a lazy day, the clouds on his fur staying put as they always had. He secretly wished he could be up in the clouds...that he could follow them and see where they were going...but he could not. That was okay though, watching them was just as fun.

From one of the crags in the side of Mt. Kapu, Lunare found herself watching the clouds, as well. It was a fun pastime, watching the sky and pointing out which clouds happened to look like a tree or a rock or a little baby Palui as she laughed to no one but herself. These were happy times. Nice, if not a bit boring. But the passive femme had grown used to her life of solitude in the wild. Since gaining her wings, she'd seen less and less wildlife, choosing instead to stay hidden high up where prying eyes couldn't reach. Regardless, she was beginning to get a little chilled. Mt. Kapu's air, even this close to the ground, was cold. Spreading her wings, she fluttered down from her perch. Her movements caused the chains between her feathers to jingle softly. With one last, melodious c***k, she landed at the base of the mountain.

What a pretty sound, Cirrus thought as Lunare's chains jingled. He could hear it well due to the quietness of the day. Curious as he was he rolled over and stood up, looking around. It took him a moment, but he eventually spotted the light pastels of Lunare. He smiled, glad to find another Palui but then something else caught his eye. It was her wings. Cirrus had never seen a real air Palu up close before. He quickly bounded over, still smiling.
"Hi!"

The sound of paws padding closer with a quickness caught her ears. They shot up, flicking a bit and guiding her head in the right direction. Turning around, she made it all the way around just in time to see the other Palui close the gap between them. His sudden greeting had her caught off guard for a moment, but soon her expression shifted to a gentle smile. "Oh, hello," she returned in her dainty voice, wings rustling at her back before settling into a comfortable position. "I didn't see you there before. I'm Lunare." She bowed her head a bit.

Cirrus watched her bow, and tilted his head, still smiling. Her voice sounded pretty, just like her chains.
"My name's Cirrus! It's nice to meet you!" he replied, his own voice not really childish but not very old sounding either. He walked around her and stared at her wings, enchanted by the neat way they looked.

"Cirrus..." she repeated softly, her gaze and head following him as he moved around her. Yet, she chose to stay still and let him do so. She was fine with it, going as far as to flutter her wings open a bit. "Like the clouds? That's a very nice name." Lunare had to admit that his pelt did remind her of a sky full of wispy clouds. Not so different from some of the ones she'd been watching earlier, although the ones today seemed a bit fluffier.

"Yup! Just like the clouds," he replied still looking at her wings. He circled around once then sat in front of her again analyzing her carefully. He was one to pay good attention to detail, that's why he'd loved the clouds so much.
"Your name reminds me of the name Luna which reminds me of the moon." he pointed to the crescent moon on her forehead, "Kinda like that one."

Canting her head, Lunare watched the male for a while. She wasn't one for analyzing as much. She liked to look at things and maybe compare them to something else. That was about it. But she respected that he was interested. In a way, it was nice. "The moon, huh...?" Looking up, she seemed to be trying to view the crescent on her forehead. She had only seen it a few times, usually in the water or the side of a shiny rock. Otherwise, it was almost like it didn't exist. It was hard to see things on one's own face. Giggling, she nodded. "I guess that's why my parents named me that. Maybe I reminded them of the moon."

Cirrus nodded, "Well you have the colors of dawn and I think the moons still out then too...It's very fitting!" He continued to analyze her, this time looking at her eyes. They were different colors and matched her fur in some places. But he'd never seen anything like this.
"Why is one eye blue and one eye pink?" he asked, mostly to himself.

In all honesty, she'd never thought so much about herself before. To have someone else show up and suddenly have her pondering uncontrollably was a strange feeling. But she certainly was enjoying herself. "It's the same for you," she noted with a little smile. "Your colors are so much like a sky full of clouds. We must be two of a kind to be named this way." Laughing lightly, she shook her head, only to realize that he now seemed to be examining her eyes. Even if the question had been more for himself than her, she still thought to answer. "Is it really that strange?" she asked in turn, canting her head curiously. "I've never seen anyone else with two different eye colors, either. Does that make me weird?" She grinned a bit toothily now. Maybe so, but she never claimed to be normal.

Cirrus laughed, he liked how interesting she was, both in looks and in thought.
"No," he replied answering her question, "It just makes you unique!" He nodded. He liked the non-conformity look to her just as much as he liked his own appearance. "I've been told my eyes look like a cloudy day, you know, just before the rain falls?" He smiled, "And yours are different, like the blue sky in the early morning and the pink sky at night!"

"Oh, well that's nice, then." Another giggle left her maw. Again, she couldn't remember laughing this much before. Today was a day of firsts and she found herself excited. Time spent with someone else was... better than she had given it credit for. A life in the wild alone was what she had tried to prepare herself for, just in case, but maybe she wasn't quite cut out for that. "Just before the rain... Definitely. Dark skies can be just as nice ask bright ones, but I have to take shelter before the rain or my wings will get mussed. I don't have time to watch..." Pausing, she canted her head. "Morning and night, I cover all the bases. Too bad I don't have a sun somewhere. At least, I think I don't." She put on a silly expression, trying to peer behind her as if a hidden marking would show up somewhere on her backside.

Cirrus gave her a good look, "Nope. No sun. But that's okay, I don't think the yellow would look too nice on your nice cool colored fur." he nodded then looked at her wings again. He wished he had wings, that he could fly up in the clouds...
"Does the rain really mess up your wings?" he asked.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 12, 2009 12:15 pm

Her reaction to the question was nearly immediate. Oh, how she hated getting stuck in the rain! "You know how some birds have feathers than make rain bounce off?" Oil or something, she knew. "I don't know if I have feathers like that, but it doesn't seem like it. The water always makes my wings heavy and droopy. I have to wait for them to dry off before I can fly again." Maybe it was bad luck to be born with downy wings. She nodded firmly. "It's not pretty when that happens, so I try not to let it."

Cirrus was taken aback for a moment by the quickness of her answer, nodding as he listened.
"Gee that must stink," he said scrunching his nose, "I kinda like the rain, it feels kind of nice, especially on hot days." he paused in thought then smiled, "I hope when I get wings, I can at least enjoy flying in the rain for a little while before they got all wet. Even if they did get soggy, just once I'd like to fly in the rain." He had used the word when, certain someday he'd get his wings...even if he didn't know when that day was.
