Dear Someone,
I don't know who you are, but Howl's enchanted this to go to someone who can help us. I hope this goes to aunt Nia or Uncle Natvii or someone we know. If not, I'm Samantha, Thali's daughter. And if you don't know my mom--maybe you've at least heard of her. She's the Princess of an "underground" kingdom called Lynwood. It's a small kingdom, hidden by portals only certain beings can get through. (It's not really underground at all, you know). If you know of Lynwood--if you know my mother, or what she's done to help others--help us!
My father's been...strange lately. He's never been really cruel, but lately, I've been afraid he'll hit her. He moves to, and when I think he's about to strike, he stops and goes to get some coffee or something. I'm worried. He's been threatening to kick mom out of the house ever since he found out she was pregnant with Uncle Vate's baby. I know what you're thinking. Mom deserves it because she's cheated on dad, right? But she didn't. The conception was magical. Mom didn't do anything wrong! Sometimes dad seems to understand that, other times...
Well, I'm not really sure how to explain it. Sometimes he seems like he understands magic, like he was born around it--other times, he acts as if it's Mom's fault again. It's not. Mom didn't want this. She loves dad--okay, she loves Uncle Vate too, but she'd never do anything that'd hurt dad.
That's the trouble! Mom won't do anything to defend herself. She's too loyal. Too fixed on the fact that Dad will eventually come to his senses and love the baby like he loves us. I know he won't, Reiya knows he won't. That baby's not going to find any happiness while Dad's here--and neither is mom. These nine months have been hard on all of us. Vincent's really lucky he was able to move out with Lissy. They have a baby now--his name's Bentley. I'm an aunt! I hope I'll be able to move out too, and I know Reiya feels the same way too. We're tired of the constant fighting. Josh says Dad doesn't really mean it, and that they used to have fights like these before Reiya and I were born--but that just makes it worse. They never really stopped fighting.
I was hoping maybe someone could make Dad be nicer to mom, and make him stop causing her to cry. He's made her cry so often this week, I set some of his books on fire. He deserved it. I know I shouldn't, but he made me so upset... If he really loves Mom, he'll be able to see that she would never do that to him. That she loves him, and that it's in her very nature to be loyal. Mom told me elves tend to name their children after the traits they see in them. I don't know, I've only been to Lynwood once, for a wedding...
I hope whoever you are, you can help. I'm afraid this'll get out of hand very soon, and I won't be able to stop dad--Mom won't do anything in her own defense, as I've said. She won't even tell Uncle Vate.

Dear Journal,
Reiya here. I saw that Sammi's neglected to update you, so I figured I would. Honestly, you'd think she'd update this every couple months at least.Vincent and Lissy had a baby! His name's Bentley, and he's the cutest baby in all Gaia. I know that sounds weird, coming from me, but he's adorable! He's got big green eyes, and black hair like Lissy's. He doesn't really look much like either of his parents, I guess. He's got Vinny's skin type, but the colors are different. He's got these adorably stubby tentacles like Lissy!
And pointed ears. He claimed me the moment he saw me, it was so cute. Vincent said he doesn't say much but 'Mine' yet. I have a feeling he'll be using that word even when he's older, though, especially since he's Vinny's. I know this seems like more Sammi's thing, after all she was always the one playing with dolls and stuff when we were little--but having a nephew, I can see why people make such a big fuss over babies.
Ley's so sweet. I can see why Vinny's worried someone'll steal him. Well, that might just be the greed in him, but, everytime one of us holds him, he watches us suspiciously, as if we'll hide Bentley under our shirts or something. Mom says that's normal for first time parents. She says she was that way with Joshua--he agreed, saying Mom didn't really let him out of her sight until we were born.
I wondered why Mom was so upset when Vincent first moved out, but Josh says she'd be just as upset if any of us did. I guess she doesn't like seeing us grow up so fast or something. Typical.
Anyway, Bentley's learning to crawl. The other day when Vincent brought him over, he used the coffee table to pull himself up. Then he clung to the edge with both hands and bounced. It was cute! He can't walk yet, but if he has help, he can stand up. Mom says he'll play soccer when he's older. He's a kicker. If you lay him down on the floor he'll roll all over the place! Until he gets onto his stomach, and then he crawls everywhere. Mom had to put plastic plugs on the outlets to make sure he doesn't get shocked and he doesn't put stuff inside them. He only comes over twice a week, so I don't know why mom's being so paranoid.
Maybe it's because Mom's going to have a baby soon. The baby's name is Trinity, dad named her. Vinny says it'll be good for Bentley to have a playmate so close to his age. Miles told me the other day that Bentley'll be having another playmate soon--I don't know what he meant by that. But he kept glancing at Sammi. Maybe he's got a crush on her. Gross! Not that Miles isn't okay looking--but he's our cousin! Anyway, I think Sammi likes someone else. She goes around humming and acting all goofy... I hope I never act like that.
