"I used to think that way about my old home, but it is very nice here. I can't really see myself going back home to my parents anymore now. It's so.. boring now, in comparison I could say?" He shrugs lightly, but that was the truth. Living with his parents was nice before, but nothing to do but stay out of the sun. here there was always something new, and his master was always teaching him.
"I should I think, I don't have anything but patching to do myself so it should be ready. And my work is cheaper than my master's because I don't have his level of skill yet, but I won't ask for any payment until it is finished. I would guess about twenty marks for your smart clothes to be finished, and the trousers."

Conomor nodded appreciatively. "Thanks; I may as well start looking smart as soon as I can. I'm actually quite exited to see what I'll look like now, I wasn't really expecting that." A good price too; perhaps he'd be able to afford those knee boots if the cobbler was as reasonable as Kita. Blue shirt, cream trousers... No, he still couldn't picture it but the cloths laid on top of one another looked attractive, so he was sure the outfit would look good too...
Ah, he hadn't actually said what he wanted in the other trousers and shirt. "For the simple trousers, just a tough material in grey or black if you would; style doesn't matter to me so long as it's a practical one. Same for the shirt."

"With a light workload, it's simple enough to have your clothing finished by then. The daily wear I'll save for last so that I can get these done first and be sure they are finished with enough time for adjustments if any are needed."
"Alright, black for the trousers is simple enough we're low on grey fabrics at the moment. The top though, a tan or cream?" He makes a little mark down on his measurements for the trouser color, setting aside the other shirt patterns that won't be used.

Conomor frowned thoughtfully as he tried to recall the contents of his wardrobe... He had two cream shirts, one grey and one tan. "Tan please," he said with a nod. All this had been a lot easier then he'd expected. Somehow he'd imagined the measuring would be a lot more arduous, that he'd be asked to pick between twenty different fabrics indistinguishable to his eye, that he'd be expected to know what style he wanted... All in all, this trip had been a very pleasant surprise.
"Do you and your master have anything to do with the Candidate robes?" Conomor asked as the thought suddenly occurred to him. He hadn't heard anything about getting the white robes so far; would they all be measured or would they have to try and find something to fit them from among pre-made robes? The latter seemed more likely to him, it would save a lot of time, but then again he did now know that measuring didn't really take that long.

"Tan it is, then." Kita marks that down as well before his attention returns to Conomor. If all their customers were as easy to work with they'd get so much more done each order, he wasn't nearly as picky as a choice few others. Rather quite the opposite.
"My master only has to make them when the ones in supply are too small for some Candidates. Usually, they're a bit big and not sized, but reusing them again saves the Weyr some marks. We haven't had to make any in some few turns, maybe there was one the last time that had to be made for a tall Candidate." Hard to remember those details with the other things ordered so often, and so many done since then. Though his master was anything but a fan of the robes, calling them more of a white sack with sleeves sewn on. He felt their skill was wasted doing such simple work that couldn't even be sized properly.

Well that made sense, and as he himself was a fairly average height he shouldn't have a problem finding one to fit him. He might have to go for one that was a bit long to accommodate his broad build though. Well, the size of his robe would be the very least of his worries by the time the hatching came around. It was more or less the last of his worries now too; there was so much to do and think about. At least all the frantic activity meant he slept well at night and wasn't too aware of the other Candidates tossing and turning restlessly.
"Well, thank you for all your help Kita," Conomor said with a smile and a bow of his head. "If it's alright with you, I'll come back the day before the gather to collect my smart clothes, and the others if you happen to have them finished." There was no great hurry on that score though; he was just preempting needing new things to replace what a young dragon might accidentally damage or destroy.

Kita nods thoughtfully to himself, mentally starting to go over which cuts should be made in the fabric first to get started, and the best seams to hold it all together. "Glad to be of help. Of course, if you want to come an extra day ahead of then, it wouldn't hurt. That way if there's any changes that need to be made they can be done in time for attending the Gather." Not that there should be, if he followed what he wrote down exactly, but one never knew. The frills might end up being too much even.

Conomor nodded again. "Two days before then; that sounds sensible." He did want everything to be well fitting and such after all. It was better, so far as he was concerned, to wander around in scruffy clothes that fitted you than in neat ones that didn't. "I'll see you soon the Kita," he said with another smile and bow of his head, "I hope the rest of your day is good."

"I'll be sure to have your clothes finished by then." And as long as no fresh orders other than repairs piled his table, that would be an easy task to keep with. "Your day as well, Conomor. Your luck be well this turn also." A lightly wry smile, he couldn't help that last word slip in.

Conomor grinned at that. "I hope so," he chuckled, "I really do. May your luck be good as well Kita." With these words and a final nod to the apprentice tailor, Conomor turned and headed back out of the shop before setting off in search of a pair of boots.
