Usually we request alts to join on occasion if we're having trouble downing a boss due to raid composition. Before, we had a system where you would get a bonus to dkp if you bring your alt instead of your main, when requested. Now we just do a free-roll/loot council mix thing. Doesn't work for every guild, but for ours it's perfect. sweatdrop

Only 10 mans in my guild allow alts, unless 1.) the alt is well enough geared to perform in the situation AND 2.) it is vital to the progression of the raid. In 10 mans (3.0 until we learn all of Ulduar) alts are allowed to come provided all slots (tanks, healers, and DPS) are filled out accordingly. Loot that a main can use always goes to a main before an alt, even offspec loot. Most people just PUG raids in my guild on their alts...

I'm not in a real guild. I made a guild called 'Beheaded' for myself so I could have a bank and tabard and whatnot (and a few people to talk to).

There is, however, a guild that I am "secretly" in that I always raid with. 4laugh I actually joined their guild for a few days but I was starting arguements with some of the less-important members (yeah I totally just typed that) in guild chat so I left before causing any more people to leave.
But I almost always top their DPS chart and they take me on both their ten and twenty-five mans.

I had my DK alt in a raiding guild a while back (while I was still leveling it) and they invited my main to their EoE when they could have easily invited someone else who was actually in the guild on their main.
But they chose me instead because I'm special.
