~The Story so Far~
Adalric Brandsson and Leidolf Gunnolfsson have journeyed together for a year or more now. Leidolf still knows nothing about the older boy other than Adalric is his only true friend. Adalric refuses to allow Leidolf in on the secret he's keeping. Until the night Leidolf wakes and finds Loki Laufeyson---the Asgardian fire god--where his friend was sleeping.

((Leidolf's got brown hair'n'eyes and he's sorta lanky. Adalric's more blonde and blue-eyed and built...er? more built. XD And Loki's flaming red haired and purple eyed.))
Leidolf sighed as he moved into the shade of Adalric's taller shadow. Heat swelled up and dripped down his forehead in stinging beads into his eyes. He didn't know where they were headed, as usual, but they traveled light and out in the open, also the same.
"How far is the town?" he murmured, sticking his hands inside his bedraggled, threadbare tunic long enough to wipe the sweat off his face.

Adalric shrugged, not sweating in the slightest despite the heat. Due to his secret identity he didn't need to fear heat unless it was coming directly from him. "A few more miles, maybe. We basically need to keep walking this way..." he told his friend, voice calm even as his words gave out barely any information. He wasn't wearing much, his clothes worn from time and endurance, yet he was perfectly comfortable.
((How's that? xD))

((That's great. :3 It's finally letting me post too! sweatdrop ))
"Oh." Leidolf nodded, sighing and kicking up little spurts of dust with his feet as he tried to catch up with his friend. A few more steps and... He blinked. Why is the road so close to my face...?
He heard Adalric sigh and glanced up, shuddering, as a cool hand touched his brow, which was soaked and burning.
"You need to stop getting sick so easily." With a grunt the other boy pulled him onto his back and started walking, heedless of the dead weight it seemed.
"Sorry." Leidolf shivered again, closing his eyes and trying to work in his fevered brain how many miles they had left...and how it could be so hot yet he so cold. He opened his eyes again, blinking as he saw houses. Houses?
"Hey, we're coming up on an inn. You can sleep some there, all right? Hey! You're not dead back there, are you?"
"No..." He coughed and got down off Adalric's back.

Adalric watched Leidolf warily, needing to know that his friend could walkj before he relaxed. If his friend couldn't walk then that would be it and Adalric would have Leidolf back in his arms, in safety.

Leidolf moved slowly around Adalric, head feeling light but keeping to his feet. He looked back at his friend expectantly. "You coming?" He looked toward the sky. "It's turning dark."

Adalric nodded and moved swiftly to stand beside Leidolf, keeping pace with him so that he could catch him if he fell. "we'll need to be quick. If you need my help, then ask. Please?" he finished with the request, but did so reluctantly: if his friend fell, then there would be no choice involved: Adalric would carry him!
