Chapter 15
"Yes mom, I have the list," Thera said through a audio comm link with her mom. The zoid her mom was flanking the saber lion with pulled away and started to head back.
"Be careful," It'll come out of your allowance if you break another one," Thera's mother warned.
Thera was heading towards the nearest town to pick-up parts and supplies. The zoid had a few additional storage compartment were added. Making it heavier and les agile.
The nearest town was across a mountain range and a small desert. On the best days it would take 2 by Aerial Zoid, 4 by Ground Zoid. (The base where she was currently stationed is currently one day away from her mother's house).
When the com-link closed and her mom was out of sight she pushed the controls of the Saber Lion into full stride, which was 255 km/h. Using This zoid the trip was cut down to 3 days. Thera leaned back in her seat. The trip there was pretty much a straight shot. 'Geez, a zoid could pilot itself there,' Thera thought looking at a map of the route she would take.
The first day went by without bother. During the second day she ran into a couple of government zoids, odd to see them out this far. Early on the third day the radar started beeping. She jolted up from her relaxed position. The radar showed around 13 zoids. She ordered the radar closed. When it closed she saw a pack of wild Rev Raptors bearing down on her. 'That's a large group for wilds,' Thera thought.
"No, No, No, No," She growled. She couldn't take on a pack of wild Zoids with a fully armed Saber Lion. The High Friction part of the blades wasn't completely working. It was an on again off again relationship with whether it worked or not. Thera cursed. She looked around they were coming at her from all sides. She had to figure a way to come out of this, preferably with the lion in working condition. She may have more money stashed in Lion but it wasn't mean't to get the Saber Lion fixed.
Thera deployed the blades and slowed the Lions pace to a walk; waiting for the first of them to arrive. She pulled the video feed out of the rear security sensor. "If all else fails, We'll use the smoke discharger," Thera said mostly to herself. She whipped her mother's Saber Lion around to meet the Raptors head on. She charged at the ones that had been behind her. She took 3 out before the other 10 bore down on her. The Lion growled fiercely and continued charging at them until she was through to the back of the group.
She ran to a nearby canyon that was to the right a ways ahead. She was hoping to funnnel them into a closer combat zone.
