With a determined expression, Liam nodded before staring down at the forest floor below. This probably won't take too long, he figured. Though by that, he felt that a deer would be showing up within the next few seconds. So he ended up being a little disappointed when he saw nothing appearing within his line of sight.
Frowning a bit, he looked around more, trying to see any signs of life. As far as he could tell there weren't any just yet.
"Are you sure they come here a lot?"

Cyrus, who had closed his eyes mere seconds before Liam spoke up, opened one to look at him.
"I'm sure if you talked to an expert hunter, more than half of their time would be spent waiting." Cyrus mumbled and shut his eye once more.
"And yes, they come here a lot. When I'm really quiet."

Glancing back at Cyrus, he blinked a bit before pursing his lips together somewhat. Well, waiting wasn't really all that fun. And it didn't really show a whole lot of skill in his opinion. But he supposed he better play along if he were to show this guy just how awesome of a hunter he really is.
Liam just hoped that something will show up before sunrise else he'll be stuck in the tree all day long.
So, with a sigh, he gripped the spear and stared down at the forest floor once agian.

About thirty minutes passed before anything remotely big crossed the ground below. There had been a few rabbits... A frog or two... And even a turtle...
But then a male buck showed. His horns pointed victoriously to the sky, and gracefully, he began to feed on the grass below him.
Cyrus, who'd heard the footsteps, opened his eyes slowly. "Okay." He whispered in the lowest possible voice. "Take your time. Lift your spear very carefully, and when you think your ready, throw it."

Liam was starting to grow bored as time went on with only small game passing by. But, his attention was soon grabbed as the male deer came into view. With a grin, he glanced over at Cyrus and nodded before looking back down at the creature below. This was going to be easy, the figured.
So, quietly, he raised the spear and watched the buck. After a few seconds, he hurled the weapon down towards the unsuspecting deer.

Cyrus's eyes followed the spear, as it not only missed, but hit a tree about 10 feet away from the original target.
The male deer looked up, and quickly fled.
"Way to go. Looks like we'll be feasting on fresh bark tonight." Cyrus mumbled with a large sigh following. He looked at his nails and started scraping out the dirt underneath them. "If at first you don't succeed, try try again, I suppose."

"Ah my throw was off." said Liam while blinking at the spot where the spear ended up landing.
Shaking his head then, he furrowed his brow and jumped down from the tree, landing onto the earthen floor with a thud. He'll get it next time. He was certain of it! So he hastily retrieved the spear and scrambled back up the tree to rejoin Cyrus.
"Just watch. Next one that comes will be a dead on shot!"
