Lighting Prompt:

After purchasing the candle that reminded her so much of the Underdark, she rushed home, eager to light the new scent. Unfortunately, she had to walk the entire way back, not noticing how far she had come until it was time to go back.

By the time she arrived back to her small two bedroom apartment, the sun was already setting, her eyes enjoying the dim light. It took a little while to pick out the right key, not really used to having to constantly locked her door. In the Underdark, when you were a Priestess of Lloth, other Drow automatically knew not to mess with you unless they enjoyed heavy amounts of pain.

When she finally got inside, she looked around at her boring livingroom, deciding that she really needed to make this place look like someone actually lived here. For now, she went over to her small coffee table and set the silver candle down, careful not to spill any of the precious oil.

"Hmm, I need a lighter," she mumbled to herself, realizing she probably should've bought one at the candle shop. For now she went quickly into the kitchen, digging through all of drawers, not finding a single match. Damn, how was she going to light the candle?

Well duh, she was a Priestess of Lloth, she could ask the Goddess for help! Priestesses had a few special powers, like her own weak empathy, as well as abilities for protection, as well as for fighting. She didn't really have powers over fire, so she could only pray that the Goddess would help.

She quickly went back to the coffee table, sitting cross-legged in front it, and positioning the candle in front of her. "Goddess please hear me, and come to me in my moment of aid. I don't know why I was called here, but I will always follow your will. Help me, for I will always be your servant."

She closed her eyes, concentrating with all of her mite, when suddenly she could feel a flash of warmth. Opening her eyes, she watched the wick flicker, then suddenly it was on fire. It was the most wonderful, intoxicating scent she had ever smelled in her life. "I'm home," she murmured.

For a long time she sat there, enjoying the beautiful scent of home, when she noticed something wrong with the candle. Purple smoke rose from the flame, but there was something . . . off, with the smoke. Usually smoke would rise and curl in the air before disappearing, but this was making a shape, the shape of a spider!

"The Goddess!" she exclaimed, bowing her head before the flame. "Oh thank you Goddess, I knew you would never lead me astray!" From then on she knew this candle was special, that for whatever reason she was sent here to find it, and that it was now forever part of her life.

Awakening Prompt:

After waking up, A'isha did the usual routine. She stripped down out of her night clothes, going to the shower and turning the water blistering hot, much like the hot springs back in the Underdark that had a sulphurous scent that burnt the nose. Like usual, she used the strawberry shampoo, something she had become partial to during her time above ground, massaging it into her scalp and thick black hair.

When she was finished, she washed it all out, stepping out onto the towel on the floor and wrapping a dark purple towel around her chest, the cloth reaching about midthigh. Another towel she wrapped around her hair as she brushed her teeth, looking at her complection in the mirror. The same violet eyes looked back at her, her skin a light lilac that marked her as an albino, her skin so much different from the dark greys of her relatives.

There she had been a High Priestess of Lloth, here she was practically a nobody, only coming above ground because of a task given to her by the Goddess. With a sigh, she toweled her hair, then her body and hung up the towels, dressing herself in the usual: a tight black top covered in purple amethysts, the cloth barely covering her breasts; next came a dark wrap that went around her waist. Her tattoos were easily visible in the light of the bathroom, and she smiled at them, remembering how long it had been since she had gotten them.

She went into her livingroom next, a small room made to look large because of the absence of furniture except a small burgundy couch. It was devoid of all photos, or anything personal. The only thing that spoke of the owner was a small silver candle on the little coffee table in front of the couch. A violet liquid sat within. When anyone other than herself smelled the liquid, they would smell musty dirt and earth, but when she smelled it, it was the most luxurious scent, a scent reminding her of everything at home. Of the earth, the wet, and even the intoxicating smell of the men.

There was very little liquid remaining, and this would be the last time she would be able to light this most precious of candles. Hopefully the shop from which she bought it from would have refills, she couldn't think of what she would do when she ran out.

Not needing matches, she concentrated for a short moment, the candle suddenly bursting into flame. She smiled, glad that she still had her Goddess-given gifts, powers that could burn and freeze, maim and murder if she so wished it. The scent filled the room, and she closed her eyes, enjoying the sweet, sweet scent.

Sitting on her little couch, she sat slowly, immersed in memories of home. Days passed, or maybe even minutes, perhaps just many hours, she didn't know. The memories of home held her so tightly, her desire to go back so strong it was almost pain. Her body ached, soft tears trickling down her high cheekbones.

Without noticing, the auroma grew stronger, and she could feel a sudden heat against her skin. When she opened her eyes, the smoke was coiling about the candle. Shapes burst forth, shapes of spiders, of webs and flame. An eerie music filled her ears, the language unknown to her but the meaning was crystal clear: It spoke of childhood memories, of sweet times running through the Underdark, of learning she was special; it spoke of home, and of a longing so powerful she thought it would consume her.

The spoke began to spin and twirl, the liquid rising before her eyes. She gasped as the liquid and smoke came together, creating a shape, a shape reminiscent of a child. Bones started to form, surrounded by veins and sinew, then meat and muscles. Next came dark grey skin, then hair sprouted forth from the scalp, silver hair with violet tips. The eyelids fluttered, and when they opened violet eyes, so much like her own looked back at her, eyes filled with deep intelligence.

A child, a Drow child floated before her. She held out her arms, and he was real. His skin was warm and slightly moist. He smelled just like the candle, of earth and musk, of home. Tears continued to trickle down her face, she couldn't help it. A miracle and just taken place. She had a child, she was a mother!

The little child's chest moved up in down, his violet eyes blinking in confusion. Before, everything had been darkness, but he had heard a voice, and with this voice came a face. The face the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, and after the face came a body, a lithe and graceful body, but she didn't have legs. No, where legs should've been was the body of a spider. Even then they were beautiful. She smiled, and told him what he was, and who he was.

She had sent him on his way with a love so powerful he thought he would burst. Before he knew what was hapenning, he awoke to another beautiful face, a face with lilac skin and violet eyes. He was alive, and he had a mother, and from his mother was a warmth and love to rival the woman he had met before. He closed his eyes and drifted off into the most peaceful of sleep.
