Jade moseyed along, taking in the sights around her lazily. It was nice to escape the cave, she may even take a page out of Zulimar's book and go off and be a hermit for 3/4s of the year. (The painter only ever came visiting in time for dinner or winter...)

Coming to a stop at the top of a cliff that overlooked a river, Jade sat down and observed the running water as it slowly eroded the last of the ice that had covered it for the past three months. It reminded her of the one time when Nerina had somehow filled her room with snow.

Jade growled lowly to herself, instead of calming her the river had made her agitated. Standing from her position laying in the grass, she stomped angrily back down the hill intent on finding something else to do that wouldn't remind her of why she had left the cave to start with. There had been a reprieve from the common painter's nasty tricks with the introduction of Sariel to the bunch, but since the motherly painter had moved out to be with her love things had gone back to normal. Nerina targeted Jade specifically and the only time she was safe these days was when she roamed outside the caves.

Kaius wandered aimlessly through the lightly frosted grass, his hooves touching the ground with a amusing crunch each time he took a step forward. His companion, Fable, stayed near to his side, it's ears held up high waiting for the slightest noise of life. They had been traveling for days at a time, not headed anywhere in particular. It had been about a month since he had ran into any sort of life besides the random wild familiar. He was quite happy with the progress they were making, staying out of public. Kaius wasn't shy, nor was it that he had people problems. He just didn't enjoy making acquaintances that would forget about him a few days after meeting him. So what was the point to even try making friends? The only friend he allowed himself to have was the familiar at his side, and he was quite happy with that.
Suddenly, Fable paused, his eyes glancing to the right side of Kaius where he found a Painter stomping through the grass a few meters away from them. It was too late to run or hide, so Kaius just stood still and watched as the Chi-lin made its way closer and closer to him.

Jade continued on her course to find something to calm her anger; something that wouldn't remind her of a certain malicious painter's pranks. This was mostly impossible, since there was still patches of snow here and there and the grass that was trying to grow was covered in a thin layer of frost.

She kept going, fuming silently to herself when suddenly a dark smudge made itself known in her peripheral vision. Looking to the left, she saw another Chi'lin (who hopefully wouldn't be as annoyingly vain as the other she had met a few weeks ago...) and his familiar standing still and watching her.

"What are you looking at?!" she demanded in her irritation.

Kaius's sleek eyebrow rose at the female's rude tone. She didn't even know him and she was already taking out her anger on him? How curious.
"You." He replied with the obvious, knowing that it was bound to spark the female's temper even farther. She should know better then to be mean to strangers. He could have been a psychopath for all she knew. He kept up a calm exterior, even though he half wanted to treat her the same way.

That threw her for a loop. Usually people would respond with awkward stuttering or huff and look away. This was the first time anyone had calmly replied (with the truth, no less) and kept staring. She recovered quickly however, who did this male think he was?

Jade glared and said, "Yea, well quit it. It's rude."

"You're tone is rude." Kaius spoke back, not wavering one bit. "All I was doing was staring in your general direction and you snap at me? You're not one for manners, are you?" Kaius asked, "Or has something upset you?"

Jade took a step back and half turned away. So what if her tone was rude? Staring was rude too. In her general direction? Hah, he'd been staring right at her.

"Nothing's 'upset me'" she mocked, "maybe I'm just a rude person."

Her glare faltered, he was closer to the truth than he knew, but there was no way she was going to tell him anything about herself after this.
