The Shinigami Master didn't often get much chance for a little peace and quiet. Between the demands of his family, his clan and his work he always seemed to manage to keep busy. Except for this afternoon. He'd managed to orchestrate a little time to himself. Kaori had taken the youngest clan members and some of the older female members out for a girly day shopping, Aya had seemingly secluded herself in her laboratories, Jack and Raven were... well. Gaia knew what they were up to but it was quiet and it didn't require his supervision whatever it was. Whoever had remained indoors were either using the time to catch up on their own personal hobbies or taking the time to do a little library work (something he was very grateful for).

He leaned on the kitchen counter as the water boiled, a stolen cupcake in his hand and on his lips. Once the water had reached the optimum temperature he transferred it to the simple round teapot and the fine blend he had selected for that afternoon's relaxation. He didn't use bags, except when he was in a hurry. Instead a solid silver tea infuser dangled in to pot, gradually changing the colour of the liquid to a rich, golden-brown. The scent of tea and cake was comforting as he moved everything onto a tray. He'd even taken the time to pour some milk out of the carton into a matching jug and some sugar cubes into a matching bowl. Satisfied with his choices he carried the tray out into the living area of his family's apartment.

The tray was set carefully onto the coffee table next to a stack of books and papers. Guyy's idea of relaxing fun was his personal projects, cataloguing, translating and copying ancient books for public perusal. And he had a fine batch to work on today. But not yet. First he poured himself a cup of tea with a dash of milk and more sugar cubes than could possibly be healthy, measuring everything out with the concentration and dedication of an expert scientist. Gourmet tea like this was one of his secret pleasures. He had a plate with a couple of the sweet cupcakes and some cookies as well, for dunking and sustenance as he worked.

Satisfied that everything was as it should be he picked up the first book and leaned back on his comfortable sofa, tea in hand and bare feet up on the edge of the coffee table. He closed his eyes to breathe in the scent of hot, sweet tea. Perfect. There was only one thing missing.
"Music, light selection if you would be so kind." he instructed the entertainment system. Instantly it queued up a random assortment of quiet jazz and easy listening. He smiled to himself and opened the tome to the first page, ancient characters patterning the white page. This one might even prove a little bit of a challenge to him, something he looked forward to. With a content sigh he lifted his cup to his lips to take his first sip.

Caine was happily walking down the corridor and whisting a tune that would make people think that he was skipping pebbles on water when he passed by the Master Shinigami's door. Two steps past it, the Lord Lacquer stopped as he felt the tingling feeling of relaxation emitting from the room. Slowly, like a predator that has found and easy prey, the Sidhe Lord turned his head to the side to stare at the wall. Slowly, very very slowly, his lips curled up into a feral grin. If Guyy was this relaxed then the snake man was probably off in his own world (like Aya is at the moment with her alchemy, he thought darkly) AND he was having tea with lots and lots of sweets. Surely Guyy couldn't finish all of those on his own. Caine chuckled and his body began disappearing. And what kind of friend was he if he didn't at least give the man a helping hand?

Besides, he needed a place to hide. He had secretly taken an important ingredient from Aya's lab and he knew that it wouldn't take long for the Ice Queen to figure out just who had been responsible for the disappearance of a highly rare material. Caine's laugh echoed throughout the hallway before he finally disappeared into thin air. And it would probably take an even lesser time to take it from him if she found him just wandering the halls. All Aya had to do was distract him and poof! She'd be running off with the material so he had to do everything he could to prevent that from happening...not that he didn't want Aya distracting him. It was just that he wanted to irritate her for ignoring him in favor of her alchemy. Oh he just loved leaving chaos behind him didn't he?

And there Guyy was, reclining on his sofa. He looked utterly at home with his tea set and book. Caine almost felt guilty for interrupting his relaxation hour. Almost being the key word there. With a slight distortion of the space at the back of Guyy's sofa, Caine entered the dimension of the room. Now that the Sidhe Lord was fully alive (in a sense) the snake man would no doubt be able to sense him. Just in time too because Guyy had just taken the very first sip of his tea. The Sidhe really hoped that he'd surprised the man enough so that he'd spit out what he'd just drank.

"I hope you're up for some strip poker," Caine said as he leaned his weight on the backrest of the sofa. His lips were right beside Guyy's ear. His voice was tantamount to dark chocolate. So good, so addicting and so very bad for one's health. If one didn't know any better, one would think that Caine was trying to seduce the snake man. On the contrary, the Sidhe Lord was simply practicing for when he had to use such a line with Aya. Without waiting for Guyy's response, Caine slipped out from behind the sofa and casually sat on the accompanying arm chair. He made himself comfortable and snatched a cup cake while he was at it before whipping out a deck of cards from his pocket.

"Should you deal or shall I?"

It was quite obvious that he was not taking a no for an answer.

Guyy sensed him materialising behind him, the Sidhe lord was quite unmistakable. So much for peace and quiet. But he was a quick man and before Guyy fully had time to register he felt hot breath at his ear and a sultry voice suggesting a game of strip poker. He almost spilled his tea and had to swallow hard in order to stop it dribbling out of his mouth. He coughed a little and set the cup back in its saucer on the table before he dropped it. Once he recovered his breath enough to speak he turned to glare at Caine through his watery red eyes.

"Strip poker? You're kidding right?" he choked. But the man already had the cards in his hands. And one of his cupcakes. It was no mystery where Parvarti got a lot of her nature from really. "That's not really my idea of relaxation you know. Why don't you get Aya to play it with you? Or Jack, wherever he is?" Guyy complained. But he knew it was in vain, no matter how much he protested once Caine had his mind set on something there wasn't a thing that could dissuade him. Except Aya.

Odd that he wasn't hanging around the Ice Queen actually. Unless... ah. Caine was probably up to no good in some way, or had been thrown out of her lab for some reason. He sighed and set his book down on the pile, taking his feet down from the coffee table and sitting forward. He knew there was always one element with Caine when it came to games of chance. He grimaced and rubbed the bridge of his nose in consternation for a moment before shrugging.

"What's your stakes this time?" he sighed, shaking his head and realising he probably had no choice in the matter.

"I'd have thought that seeing each other slowly removing our clothes would have been enough for you but since you asked," Caine said cheerily and seemingly oblivious to Guyy's complaints and irritation, "probably just your kitchen for the week. There's something that I've been dying to cook and Aya won't let me do it in the clan kitchen. If you win, I'll be your servant for the same duration."

Yes. He was willing to be Guyy's slave/toy for one week if ever he lost this game. That was if he lost the game. He'd been gambling for generations so it was quite understandable that he expected himself to win this little game of strip poker. He grinned at the snake spirit before he dealt out the cards. And besides, he'd still get to see Guyy stripping if ever he did lose in the end and if he wanted to, he could easily record the whole thing and edit the speed so that it looked like the snake spirit was indeed stripping for him. Wouldn't everyone get a shock out of that once he released it in the big screen?

Finishing the cupcake, he moved to change his sitting into a more comfortable one. With a smirk, he began arranging his cards. Guyy had the advantage on this one. He could easily sense Caine's vital statistics. It would be easy for him to predict whether the Sidhe had something up his sleeve or about to unleash an ultimate attack. Ah well. It wasn't like Guyy knew what cards he currently held.

"So how's the wife and the kids?" he asked just to keep this thing from getting serious.

The Shinigami Master raised an eyebrow at the Sidhe before laughing and shaking his head. If he had this much bother with him flirting openly and brashly, what on earth did Aya go through? And she was much less tolerable of such things, or so he had come to learn.
"You are absolutely incorrigible, you know. It's amazing Aya hasn't had you castrated before now. How on earth you get away with your pranks I have no idea. I should certainly learn how." Guyy laughed. He knew fine well that no matter what he said there was no way out of this. If you can't beat them, join them, right?

He set his books aside carefully and took a drink of his tea before setting it down. He gazed at the pot thoughtfully. He shrugged and sighed, a smile on his lips.
"My kitchen? Is that all?" he smirked. Had the Sidhe merely asked he could have borrowed his kitchen any time, and he suspected Caine knew that too. But he just loved his gambling. There was really nothing to lose. Unless whatever Caine wanted to cook up was going to be somehow troublesome, and he didn't put that past him. And if he won it might fun to have him under his command for a while. "Hn. Fine. I agree to your wager, good sir." Guyy nodded, leaning forward in his seat.

He scooped up his cards, giving Caine a sidewards glance for any noticeable changes in blood pressure. Some people might consider it cheating, but it would just be like anyone reading another person's tell. Besides, Caine probably had a few tricks up his sleeve himself. He fanned out his cards in his hand and studied them. Looked like he was starting off well at least. He looked up and smiled, amused at the almost domestic turn of the conversation.
"Kaori's getting a bit frustrated I think. It's hard to tell with her sometimes, but she's been hanging around her sanctuary a lot lately. Understandable really. This whole motherhood business suits her though." He shrugged, smiling. "I think she's just keen to take the kids with her when she goes out and teach them to hunt." he laughed. That was a long way away yet. "And Ilia... well. Considering how much time she spends with Parvarti you should almost know as well as I how she's doing. You know she's got it into her head she wants a sleepover? But all her friends live here, she has one practically every night!" he shook his head. No doubt it was the teen movies she had been watching lately. "I caught all of the girls singing along to one of those preteen musicals last week. And eating my stash of sweets."

He licked his lips as a mischievous grin spread over his face. He folded up his cards and stood.
"You know, if we're going to be playing poker, we should be playing it right. We are missing one small thing." he waved a finger enigmatically. He made his way to the kitchen and returned shortly after with a couple of glasses and a few bottles. He set down the glasses and bottles. Vodka, whisky and mixers. "I have no idea if this will have any more effect on you than they do on me, or less, but we may as well do this right." he grinned.

He poured himself a measure and picked up his cards again, eyeing them carefully and organising the cards.
"So what about you? How's the family?" he asked conversationally.
