this one brings back good memories. my dog had her first litter when i wrote this and i was thinking, what would a puppy be thinking if i could hear it. well i ended up writing this one enjoy.

Puppy's First Steps

Sniffing around
Cant hear a sound
Cannot see what is there
Gingerly taking steps practically here
Crawling towards a smell
One familiar to the nose you know well
Touching a warm body your nose finds
Closer you snuggle you seek to hide
A world you don't see or hear
Feels bigger then it appears
Stay by mother
Hidden amongst sisters and brothers
Today you're here
Tomorrow you'll still be there
Sleeping, moving, growing into a bigger dog
Someday you'll walk, run, and jog
But today learn to take the first step to crawl
