Aquamarine smiled. "A little princess," she said, full of joy. She followed Syoto to little Naiosalas. Deep down inside, it didn't feel right to take Naiosalas from Ithnan, but she would teach her children to see little Naiosalas as the very best of friends. She would help Naiosalas see the truth and be happy with being who he was: the son of his adoptive father's oldest and dearest friend.
Siddhartha managed to get to his feet and wobbled over to the one called Naiosalas, a serious, but curious, expression on his tiny features. Seeing Naiosalas' look, he very carefully sighed in the softest of ways, rolling his eyes a little, trying not to attract attention from anyone else on this matter. If they wanted to play around with his father's crazy story about Naiosalas, that was their problem; it just so happened that Siddhartha disagreed and would always view Naiosalas as a very good friend and companion, but not as a brother. His father didn't need to know that, though.

Salano -pouting with a level of expertise that was astounding considering she had just been hatched - followed the rest of her family over to the nest with a little pink hatchling, where it seemed that everyone was gathering. She scoffed. That little thing? Her brother? Doubtful. He was obviously a servant, just like the pink male - who was obviously a commoner... But still, her father wanted to pretend that the little worm - what was his name? Naiosalas? - was his son... Syoto was the high king! Her father! He would pass the throne on to her - or, possibly her older brother - when he grew old and greyish-blue... He must have a reason. So she would go along with it.
"Welcome to the world, brother," she said softly, eyes glittering.
Syoto grinned. His daughter was so... cute! She was definitely a princess... "And so, the royal family grows," he said grandly, more to himself than anyone else...

As the other little male approached, Naiosalas didn't hesitate to look him over critically. A prince, was he? Were they for that matter? A roll of his own eyes matched the other's. Sure, the boy may have been the son of the male and the female, but his father couldn't have been that dark blue one... right? Then again, there were always dormant genes hidden deep within the bloodlines, right? He could have inherited something along those lines to be born looking... nothing... like... either of them.....
The little boy shook his head, shoulders shaking with silent laughter as the other made what seemed to be an amused gesture. Naiosalas was his name. He knew that. But the other two, the other five- what were they called? Who were they? He blinked his large blue eyes at them, and just in time for the female to approach him, making his eyebrows knit curiously. Something inside of him didn't trust her, but he didn't know what it was. Not breaking eye contact for a moment, he bowed momentarily before righting himself once again and nodding to her. 'You, too,' he replied in his mind, yet as he opened his mouth, not a single noise came out. What was wrong...? Why weren't the words coming out like they were for the other two?
Ithnan wasn't really sure what to think. This was all just so... awkward. His tail twitched on the ground as he watched the interactions between the tree, a shiver running down his spine. Neither Syoto's son or his own had said anything aloud. Something was... off about that. He frowned softly. Didn't hatchlings typically speak at the time of their hatching? He couldn't remember; it wasn't as though he'd observed a hatching aside from his own until now, had he...?

Siddhartha cocked his head. Naiosalas couldn't speak? He smiled, and said in his soft voice, "I'll be your voice, Naiosalas. I'm Siddhartha." He felt certain Naiosalas could understand him, but Siddhartha decided to give his all to understand Naiosalas, to find a way to become his voice and protect him from any underhanded nastiness he also felt certain his younger sister would commit when their parents' backs were turned. Oh, well, there was no helping her. She would likely prove as mad as their father, Syoto, and Siddhartha would have no truck with that kind of nonsensical insanity.
Aquamarine, however, did not pick up on the nastiness in Salano, and probably never would; she was far too innocent and sheltered to pick up on that part of Salano's personality, and Syoto...Syoto wasn't quite as cleverly insane and dangerous as Salano. Aquamarine wasn't worried about the throne, or any squabbles that might arise in the future as little Salano would wreak as she got to the point where she could express an insecure disdain for Naiosalas...she was too happy at having three beautiful little ones to raise, even if one of them was Ithnan's child, and not hers and Syoto's. She was too excited about being a mother to worry about the future.

Syoto blinked at the conversation... if it could be called that... between his 'two' sons... Naiosalas couldn't speak? Ah, no matter. He would simply have to be the 'strong, silent' type of leader. Not like Syoto. Syoto was a dragon of the people!
In any case, Naiosalas most likely wouldn't be ruling much... Perhaps his not-speaking was even a good thing!
Salano snorted in her own mind, but not aloud. Siddhartha would 'be his voice'? How was that going to work? ... Oh! Obviously he meant that he'd be using Naiosalas as a figurehead, and was planning to rule all of Naio's inherited land as well as his own...
Salano scowled. Well, not if she could help it.
"I'll be your voice, too, brother!" she chirped, mouth curving in a smirk at the last word. That was a laugh. "I am Princess Salano," she continued grandly.... "Princess Lano! Heir to the throne!" she began to cavort around the cave, practicing a regal wave of her tail as she strode upon the stone.

His voice...? That made sense. It was also a nice touch, to hear the voice so calm and controlled from this other male, much like the elder female in the cave. It was steady, as well, which was nice in comparison to the larger pink dragon. He was likely between the lot of them, though more dense in certain areas. No part of him thought of questioning his relation to the other dragons, not in the least. And being a prince was an appealing thought, he assumed. Though... princess. That felt much more fitting, in his honest opinion. Would that make it 'her' honest opinion, then? Oh, this was too confusing.
Naiosalas bowed his head slightly in response to Siddhartha's comment, a bit of a smile coming to his face. Of course, that smile turned quickly into a grimace, his fur standing on end when the gratingly feminine voice came from the young female. He turned, blinking slowly. He raised his head slightly, tipping it gently to one side. She was certainly an interesting one... Blue eyes followed her around the cave, and he wondered. 'If she's to be the princess than perhaps I could learn from her. Though...' he glanced back toward Siddhartha, a bit of a smile coming to his young face. 'He's definitely more... subtle in his ways. Salano... isn't.' Not to mention that girl scared him a bit.
Ithnan watched the young hatchling with amusement obvious in his eyes, tail flicking back and forth on the floor of the cave, looking toward her father for a moment and holding back from letting loose a dreamy sigh. Syoto was Aquamarine's, and he would respect that fact. Though, he would admit, that girl definitely took after him the most. In colour, as well. Just as Naiosalas took after him.

Aquamarine turned to go. "I'll go get more food for the children," she said blissfully. "See that they don't get into too much mischief while I'm gone." She briefly nuzzled her beloved Syoto and hurried out to hunt again.
Siddhartha could see that his father would be no help at all with Salano, and wouldn't protect Naiosalas from Salano's mischief. He sighed inwardly and said nothing about the absurdity of the concept of dragon royalty. He glanced at Naiosalas and shifted to a position where he was clearly able to keep Salano from Naiosalas if necessary. "Salano," he began formally, "I think it's time for your royal nap. A princess needs all the sleep she can get to grow." He definitely had plans for himself and Naiosalas once they were old enough to hunt: he was definitely taking his good friend out of this crazy family so they could live more sane, thoughtful lives. He wasn't about to make Naiosalas subject to this nonsense forever.

Syoto grinned and watched his Queen go... Wait! The queen shouldn't have to hunt! At least not by herself! That was servants' work... "Ithnan, perhaps you should go with her," Syoto suggested, which to any loyal servant - as Syoto thought to himself absently - would be taken as an order.
He failed to realize that it might be a bit offensive to begin ordering Ithnan around only moments after he'd essentially stolen the pink dragon's son...
"I don't need a nap," Salano growled, pouncing playfully at her brother, toppling to the floor of the cave. As she sprawled out, preparing to roll back onto her feet, a large yawn racked her body, jaws stretching an absurd distance apart before slowly closing. Salano wriggled slightly, on her back... "On second thought," she began, her eyelids slowly drooping lower and lower... "A princess does need her beauty sleep... Well, I don't of course, but a lot of princesses do, and... I guess... I..."
She wasn't able to complete her thought before she drifted into dream world. A world full of subjects and servants and knights to do her bidding...

It was almost astonishing that the first emotion that crossed Ithnan's eyes, of all dragons, was fury. It was washed away almost immediately given who the order was coming from, but it was obvious that it had been there. Coughing softly to himself for a reason he couldn't quite place at this moment, he nodded to his king. "Y-y-yes si-sir," he said quietly, nowhere near his common standards for referring to Syoto with some kind of grandiose title that didn't suit him at all.
No, no, Ithnan wasn't upset.
Not at all.
Without another word, he turned and followed Lady- oh, no, forgive him, please -Queen Aquamarine out of the cave, following behind quietly, blue eyes to the ground as his quiet coughing continued, leading him to picking at the few bits of grass and other green plants he could find in an attempt to cease with the painful movements.
Naiosalas watched in obvious amusement as the female denied the thought of sleep before she seemed to settle down and fall asleep anyway. He made the movement of chuckling a bit, without a sound, and looked over toward Siddhartha. He gestured toward Salano curiously, suggesting that the two of them go to sleep as well. He stepped forward and yawned, nuzzling his supposed brother with his snout in a very younger-sibling fashion, before he yawned again, curling up at the feet of the other male. He wasn't completely sure what to think about this 'family' of his.
Except the fact that they confused him.
That part didn't even take thinking.

Aquamarine waited for Ithnan. She could tell he was upset about Syoto, and she suspected some of the anger would carry over to her. "I'm sorry, Ithnan," she said softly in her sweet voice. "I'm sorry Syoto took your little Naiosalas and then sent you out with me to hunt. I know it wasn't fair of him, but I promise to take only the best of care of Naiosalas. I'll treat him at least as well as Siddhartha and Salano." She didn't know if this would ease Ithnan's anger, but she did plan to go through with what she'd said. She was happy to have little Naiosalas in the family, but sad that bringing him in meant stealing Ithnan's son.
Siddhartha nodded at Naiosalas. "All right, but we're not napping by Salano," he said firmly. "I think you'll be better off away from Salano." He had no intention of letting his friend get hurt by Siddhartha's sister.
