Just now I noticed that there is no Topic in this guild about "Tin Man", the mini-series that aired on SciFi Channel about two years ago. I've loved it ever since I first saw it, but only recently have I begun to get more active in my obsession (drawing fanart, for example). So, who else here has seen the show? If so, did you like it? Why or why not? You can even talk about your favorite character(s). Pretty much anything is open for discussion here, so start talking!

It was a mini-series (three, 2-hour-long episodes) that aired on SciFi Channel back in late 2007 that was a complete re-imagining of L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" that also took inspiration from the 1939 film. However, it is not a re-telling of the classic story -- Instead, it's more of a "sequel", with a darker, grittier edge. It has elements of sci-fi, fantasy, and steam punk all mixed together to create something that works well when those genres are combined. There are also small, almost hidden little "nods" to the original film and books. The cast includes Zooey Deschanel, Neal McDonough, Alan Cumming, Kathleen Robertson, Raoul Trujillo, Richard Dreyfuss, Callum Keith Rennie, Blu Mankuma, Anna Galvin, and Ted Whittall. For a quick little "teaser", here are some images of characters I have on my comp: wink

But, for the DVD, it most likely costs between $15 and $20. I'd suggest renting it, first, if that was possible, just because it got mixed reviews and everyone likes different things. Me, I loved it, as is quite obvious! sweatdrop ----------------------------------------------

And if you do end up watching it, tell me what you thought, either in this thread or the thread that is linked in my signature. I was bored, so started a fan appreciation thread.----------------------------------------------

What the heck is Indiana Jones doing in it? Is he searching for the lost treasure of Oz or something? xd Really though, that guy in the hat looks a lot like him, IMO.
I dunno if I'll see it, since I've been wanting to see Doctor Who and have yet to see more than 2 episodes of that ( 3 if you count the 10-15 Time Crash one ) so if I do, it'll most likely be quite some time before I get to it. I'm almost constantly busy with too many other things to feel up to watching stuff like that.
