Lin wondered if there was anything noticeable about the trip before. In truth, she couldn't think of anything, not since she had spent most of that trip with Timaeus after he came back from the hunt and before that well... she only saw Adonijah when Rose convinced him to come over.
"Hmm... well it's good he's getting out of his shell at least."

Arahad nodded. "It's like there's someone new living over there," he said quietly. "No one knew Adonijah before. Not even Aliya, I think. But now ... well, he's still quiet, but he actually goes to places where there are crowds of people."
He smiled faintly. "I have to admit," he said softly, "I'm rather proud of him."

Lin had to agree, it must have been hard at first to step out of one's shell like that.
"Is he happier now?" Lin asked.
She always thought that maybe Adonijah was lonely having cut himself off from people.

"Happier?" Arahad repeated thoughtfully. "It's ... hard to say, really. Yes, he is definitely happy now, but who's to say that he wasn't before? No one really knew him, and definitely not well enough to say whether or not he used to be happy. If you were to ask the animals he spent his time with, for example, I'm sure they would all tell you he was quite happy."
He paused, then shrugged. "As for happier or not, I just don't know."

Lin thought about it, Arahad was probably right. Being with just animals before never seemed to bother Adonijah, which begged the question what caused the change in the first place.
When they got to the valley, as expected Ryu and Feng were there, while holding Naida. Naida was keeping herself entertained by braiding her mother's hair.

Amdir of course had had to go to the ranch to train the horses, but Aliya and Adwin were there with Feng and Ryu, chatting with them until it was time for them to leave. Aliya was always sad to see them go, though she always knew they would come again.
"And the next time you come," she was saying to Feng just before Lin and the others appeared, "I want to hear about Kara's reaction to Naida's growth. And if she's had her baby by then, I want to know all about it!"

"Of course," Feng replied with a smile, "And who knows maybe by our next visit Naida will be walking... sort of."
Probably more falling than walking, but one never knew right?
"Hey!" Lin called out waving.

Aliya giggled at that comment. "I can't wait until that time," she said honestly. "It will almost be like watching my own children walking for the first time ..."
She looked up when she heard Lin's voice, and waved back with a warm smile. "Welcome," she said brightly. "Or ... farewell." Her smile turned sad. "This means it's time for you all to leave again."
Ruque was also sad. It meant it was time for him to return to his mother. "You promised you would visit!" he reminded Miyu, smiling at her shyly. "Don't forget!"

"I won't forget," Miyu assured Ruque.
It was hard to forget something like that, even though she supposed that would be a hard thing to express.
"But you know we'll be back," Lin grinned up at Aliya.

Aliya grinned. "I know," she murmured. "But it's never soon enough."
She stepped forward to hug Feng and Naida tightly. "I'll see you guys eventually," she smiled; and then she turned to hug Ryu as well.
Arahad clasped his hands patiently behind his back and smiled, waiting for everyone to be ready to leave.

Ryu hugged Aliya back and smiled, "And I'm sure you'll have other visitor as well now that Celebor is here, especially from his siblings."
He motioned for the others to head to the portal.
"Well then," Feng grinned as Naida waved her arms bye like the hyper child she was, "I guess we better get going."

Waving one last time the mers joined the others as they made their way to the portal. It wasn't that far away from the other houses, though hidden by a bush. Though that was the nature of the portals here, where they were hidden.
"Here we are...." Lin murmured looking at the bush... portal.
"Except more visitors," Feng told Ruque and Arahad, "Though I have no idea who they might be."

Arahad smiled widely. "I think it will be a lot of fun," he said warmly. "I look forward to seeing all of them again ... and you as well."
He stood back to watch the others. "I would say, have a safe trip, but I suppose there's no danger," he chuckled. "Until next time, then."
