OKay,so i got my new bass today.I`m so freaking happy with it and i will love it forever.I plug it and it sounds thunderous!I fiddle with the knobs, trying to find out which one is which. One volume, one pickup blend, bass, treble[?].Between the bass and the treble knobs is most likely the mid tone knob, but when i turn it up a hissing sound comes out of my amp.
The bass i got is an ESP LTD F-154.

Does it go away when you touch the bridge or the strings?

Nope,if it did that i`d know that the problem was that there was to much treble.

I think i know what it could be. EMGs are generally active granted i know they do make passive but im gonna assume yours are active. the sound your getting sounds like an overdrive in the mid channel of your bass equaliser that may be due to the active pickups. its not sopposed to be doing that. what i would do is take it to a repair shop to get it checked out. or since its a new bass take it back and exchange it for the same bass. if its from a catalog good luck taking it back

The pickups i have aren`t EMG,they are SB-4`s,the ones used for ESP basses of the lower price range.

Darkplace_Assistant Nope,if it did that i`d know that the problem was that there was to much treble. Actually the problem would be that you aren't grounded well enough or you're electronics aren't shielded. It sounds like an issue with your preamp then, easy to replace, or since it's new, use the warranty you should have gotten.

WEll i found out what the problem was.The settings on my amp.I usually put allot of treble and put the mid and bass in a lower-mid position. If i put the bass up on the amp,the sound goes dies down when i turn up the mid on my bass. But i`m still going to get the bass checked out to see if there are any problems with it.

What do you think of your f-154? I like geting feedback from ltd customers.
I got a F-404. Sounds amazing, I love the neck, and the esp active pickups... OMFG eek
only problem is I have to have my pickups set up wierd... for some reason the volume from the D and G string (standard tuning) is really low compared to the other two. and my pickups are already set at an angle sad
