The fast pounding of bare feet on earth could be heard clearly on the wide, grassy plain. Breathing heavily, beaded braids snapping back and forth, the Chi’lin Sin Vanya ran. She had no destination in mind, no reason for running under the hot midday’s sun other then the sheer pleasure she derived from it. Running like she was, racing the wind, gave her a sense of wild sense of freedom that she reveled in. While there was a certain thrill to be had in racing other, more often then not Sin Vanya ran alone. It was just as well that she ran alone for few offered to run with her.

Sin Vanya was not exactly a normal Chi’lin. She did not look ugly, but there was something about that often made others cautious in their interactions with her. Perhaps it the thick, hard, golden plates that covered her body, or her exotic, braided mane that made others uneasy. Perhaps it was the sturdy, golden spikes of her tail and her willingness to use them that made others mind their own business. Perhaps her eerie, glowing eyes and quiet fierceness kept others at bay. The most likely answer, however, was a combination of everything. As she ran she was a sight to behold: golden body gleaming in the sun, flaming eyes staring straight ahead, molten familiar clinging to her head and fiery spirits whirling about her speeding body.

Pupiless eyes caught sight of a large pool of water on the horizon and instantly Sin Vanya changed course, heading straight towards it. Thirst was one of the few things that could slow of halt Sin Vanya when she decided to run and currently she was parched.

Chantelle hums to herself as body slams cave walls and and places deathly kicks in key spots. After a few minutes of straight cave destruction, she stops, waits for the dust to settle and then gathers all of her prizes. Small beautiful gems, mainly jade. She gathers her prizes and goes to the near b y lake to wash them off. She hums the same tune. Chantelle had normal habits, beside the fact that she was the BEST at jewelry making, but she did not have normal preferences. She considered herself a goth darling. 'You know, like visigoths! God NO ONE knows what it means!' was Chantelle's usual lament. She loved all things dark and twisted and yes, was into a tad of S and M herself. But apparently she was the only person on the damned planet that shared her tastes. So this usually led to swearing and driving people off. She mainly met people for her work and that was about it. She wasn't happy with the fact but she wasn't about to be someone she was not. As she approaches the lake se spots a rare visitor. "Well hello hello! Who do we have here?" Chantelle sings out as she dips her finds into a shallow end of the lake so the won't drift away.

Kokuro Nagi pranced through the gorse underbrush, his legs longing for for a good run. The words he had uttered to a young hatching not too long ago. She had asked where his wings were, and he replied, such a simple reply... 'Why, my wings are inside my heart!' And that was it, Kokuro felt those words held a special meaning. He had always believed in those words, they had always been in his head, but this time Kokuro actually spoke them. He had told some one about the Chi's hidden wings, and now he felt the sudden urgent need to fly. Kokuro's pace suddenly began to quicken as his heart pounded hard against his chest. His owl familiar screeched and took off from his normal perch on Kokuro's horn, readying himself for a very fast flight. Then, it began.

Kokuro bugled a pure note of deep happiness and let his body go. With a surge of his mighty legs, Kokuro launched himself forward, his feet thundering against the ground like the sound of ancient drums. His eyes began to glaze over as he gained more and more speed, and soon his feet barely even touched the ground any more. It was intoxicated, it was beautiful, it was a feeling like no other, it was freedom.

Sin Vanya’s eyes narrowed slightly as she noticed a figure by the watering hole she was headed towards. She didn’t recognize the Painter, but that didn’t surprise her; she wasn’t well acquainted with any Painters beyond those that she shared with her Human. Trying to remember names was bothersome, so she tended to nickname Painters, but for whatever reason some Painters found her nicknames offensive.

‘ The way that male went on and on about me calling him “Yellow-Belly” you’d think I’d insulted all his ancestors.’

Not in the mood for sparring, physical or otherwise – at least, not yet – Sin Vanya decided that it would best if she minded her own business. Within several stides’ length of the water she slowed to a trot, her distrust of water making her cautious. Nodding to the other Painter, a fellow female Chi’lin, she paused near the water’s edge and craned her neck out to reach the water.

The lava-like salamander that clung to her head hissed and scampered away from the approaching water, hiding under a bush. Sin Vanya’s spirit companions didn’t seem to care for the water either. They floated up into the air, trying to find the source of the roar they had heard earlier.

What a fine, warm day it was. A perfect day in fact to do something he hadn't done in a while, run himself practically to the point of exhaustion. He wanted to lose himself to the wind, to the pounding of his hooves on the earth. Yes, it was a very fine day indeed.

Kaen had been racing on for a while now, his fiery mane and tail whipping about him as the wind howled at his passing. His two smaller familiars clung to his mane and horn to keep from falling. His heart was beating a wild rhythm in his chest. It felt so wonderful to be able to let himself go, just go everywhere and nowhere. The charcoal and fiery hued male, in spite of his years, surrendered himself to the powerful beat and urgent wandering of letting his feet take him where ever his heart told them. Thinking wasn't coming into the picture today, not right now.

After a time, a few simple needs came to his attention. Kaen swallowed and flicked his tongue out briefly as his focus briefly flitted to the thirst that had grown in him. The male reached the top of a hill, where he slowed to a stop, to survey the surrounding area and see if there was some means of quenching his thirst nearby. Fortune was favoring him today for his golden eyes settled upon a shimmering lake, large and clear. It appeared he wasn't the first to have located it for from his position, he could see two other Chi'lin already there. From his distance, he could not discern if they were male or female, but he figured he'd find out before too long.

Kaen's salamander slid down to the base of his horn, curling around its base, to perhaps get a better grip on the male or maybe to prepare for the last sprint down to the water's edge. The Chi'lin wasn't sure. With a leap from the peak of the hill, Kaen was on his way. He slowed to an easy canter within a few yards of the lake. It was now that he could tell that the pair that were already here were females. Kaen dipped his head to each of them in turn, his thirst momentarily claiming his ability to speak clearly. The salamander skittered down his back and made its way to his tail, content to hang on there until the Chi'lin moved away from the water. His corn baby, on the other hand, dropped down off of his back and practically leapt into the shallowest water that was lapping gently at the shore. The male shook his head with a half chuckle before lowering his head to satiate his present need, his tail lazily swaying behind him.

Chantelle picks up her rocks and puts them on a towel to dry them off. 'Well not the chattiest Chi'lin I ever met.' she thinks sarcastically. "So you just off for a run then." she tries to ask good naturedly. "Love the hair by the way. It is so fabulous." she coos happily. She glances up the hill to spot another Chi'lin. 'Dear god another. No one ever comes here, then two at once. How ironic.' He nods to her. 'Another anti-socialist, and not in the Natzi way.' she giggles at her internal joke. She then tries to strike up conversation again."Hello, another runner let me guess. Your salamander is adorable. It is funny that you both have one. " she says just wanting to pet them. She then looks down at her rocks and sees that they are shining beautifully. The jade going from a dirty lump to a off green lump. She would have to polish it before she could use it but she still found it pretty.

Kokuro could sense his people, his kind, they were near by. He laughed and called to his owl, "Nocturo! Scout! Who is in the area!" And with a couple powerful wing beats, Nocturo pulled ahead and shot up higher into the sky so he could get a better vantage point. And then, when he surveyed the entire area, Nocturo replied to his master telepathically, Yes Master Nagi... there are others at an oasis of sorts in the distance, slightly to the right of where you are running. They are of your kind sir! Kokuro rolled his eyes and replied, I have told you a million times Nocturo! Do not call me master! And anyways... it is time we made new friends don't you think Nocturo? And, without awaiting an answer, Kokuro sprang forward back into a full sprint, thundering towards the the spring with glee. He usually was not this giddy and carefree, but Kokuro had not been amongst so many others in a very, very long time.

As he approached the spring, Kokuro noticed a large boulder off to one side, just close enough to the others that they would hear him coming and see what he was going to do. Putting on a last burst of speed, Kokuro ran towards and up the side of the boulder with grace and ease. At the top, Kokuro used his momentum to help hurl himself off of the outcropping while he yelled, "Geronimo!" The Chi' then hit the water, creating an enormous splash that sent ripples across the once placid waters. He thrust his way back to the surface with a somewhat practiced ease and began to paddle his way back to shore, towards the many Chi' that were congregating on the shores of the spring.

Sin Vanya’s salamander peered out of the bush she was hiding in, sensing the presence of one of her kind. Spying the gray salamander clinging to a male’s tail, she cautiously crept out and chirped in greeting.

Ignoring the male for now – she figured if he wanted to speak he would have done so – Sin Vanya turned her attention to the dark female.

“ Out for a run, yes.”

It seemed as Sin Vanya had something else to say, but was cut off by the reappearance of her fire spirits. Looking in the direction they indicated, she had just enough time to leap away from the water before a new Chi’lin jumped it, splashing the water about. Tail snapping agitatedly behind her, she eyed the newcomer with dislike. The dislike was unwarranted, she knew that, but couldn’t help it.
