January 109
Mirisua and Darkwind were visiting the old Academy in which Miri had gone through training at. As they walked past rooms and into the halls, Miri saw many other wolfriders and their paired wolves as well as the main population of recruits, hoping to one day be paired with a wolf. But Miri and Dark were waiting for a specific recruit, one of Miri's only childhood friends. When do you think she'll be here? Miri asked Dark.
Dark did some kind of wolf shrug. Beats me. I don't even know what she looks like. And she doesn't even know we're here, but she probably knows that wolfriders are allowed to visit. But then again, who knows what your friends know if they are anything like you? Dark teased Miri and received and kind of soft, playful shove.

Emi wondered down the hall. With nothing related to school to think about, she was reflecting on her past. One face in particular popped up. It was the face of her old childhood friend Mirisua. She was always called Miri for short. They hadn't seen each other in a while. Miri herself had went to the Academy and graduated as a wolfrider. She had gotten a letter from Miri telling all about her wolf Darkwind. Emi wasn't paying any attention as to where she was going.

Miri stuck out a hand before Emi could crash into the wall or trip over something like Dark's forepaws, which would result in really bad scratches over your face and body, even if Miri told Dark not to harm anyone. Miri said "Yo." is a short, indifferent way, but was really happy to see Emi again.

Emi looked up to see the face of an older person. She blink her eyes to make sure she was seeing correctly. As soon as she was sure who the person was Emi crushed the teenager in a hug. Once she let go and pulled back she said happily, "Miri! Hey, what's up?"

Miri hugged Emi back before Emi pulled back. Replying to her question, Miri said, "Kinda boring, since it was late fall when I became a wolf rider, there weren't any centipedes. How's life with you?" She stretched as it was now quite late into the night. She could feel Dark poking Emi with her dark nose. "Hey, stop that!"
Dark was studying the girl that now stood in front of her. She had dark blue/black hair and the recruit apparently was Miri's old friend. She prodded the young recruit with her nose, trying to get her attention. When she heard Miri say to stop it, Dark rolled her eyes and said I have questions for her too you know. She saw Miri roll her eyes in the dim light left and she received a nod, understanding that Dark was to ask the question to Miri, who if allowed the question, would say it out load of Emi to hear. "Can you ask her, if she were to bond with a wolf, what would she think it would look like, personality, etc?" Miri nodded and repeated the question out loud.

"Well, I think that my wolf would have a dark blueish, silvery color with a kind of misty like pattern. My wolf's personality, well I think it's personality would be a free loving personality. Sort of my personality mixed with a personality that's the opposite of me. A wolf who would be relaxed and fun to be around but was hard working, serious and willing to prove themselves when the time came," Emi replied. "I really hope to be paired up with a wolf soon. I also hope that I'm with you and Darkwind in White Shadow Fort. Um hey should we go to my dorm since it's dark?" Emi said as she noticed for the first time how late it had gotten.

Miri thought for a while. Since it was her first time here, she didn't know if she was allowed to. She glanced over at Darkwind, who was sitting patiently, and saw a shrug from the dark blue wolf who's stripes were the only thing visible. She nodded at Emi. "I'll come. But I think it's safer to to return to the fort after. We'll come back in the morning."She gestured with her hand for Emi to lead the way.

"Alright, i guess it would be better in the morning. Well, it's this way." Emi started walking toward the girls room. As they passed different trees Emi would jump up and swing off them. She had always loved climbing. It gave her a sense of feeling free. Her past had freedom one of few things that she completely believed in.

Miri mounted Dark and Dark trotted after Emi. " Since I know the way, I'll race you!"She said, though this was really childish and not proper behavior for a wolfrider, there was no fun in doing boring drills all day right?

"What? That is so not fair!" Emi whined. Even so she shot off, not even waiting to start at the same time as Miri and Dark. It was only fair since dark was obviously a lot faster than Emi. "Well come on, Miri!" She yelled over her shoulder. As she ran she thought about the past she shared with Miri. Both had grown up living very bad lives. Meeting Miri was one of the best things that had happened to her. "Hey Miri, if you had the chance to change the past and keep your parents from dieing, do you think you would still become a wolfrider?" Emi knew that if she had never met Miri she might have grew up differently. She remembered the time that she had found out the truth about her family. Miri had done the most to save Emi from her past and from herself.

Miri thought for a while as Dark, who wasn't really paying attention to the conversation, continued running. "Hm... I don't know, probably I guess, since I've always wanted to go on adventures. Plus, if my parents hadn't died, then I wouldn't have met you, would I? And I most likely wouldn't have met Darkwind here either." She patted Darkwind's fuzzy, wolfy head lovingly. "Even if I hadn't met you the way I had, life would be a lot different." She sighed before continuing. "Of course, life is very bitter-sweet, isn't it? Ah... here we are!"Miri said before they crashed into a tree, or even a wall.

Emi was so thankful that Miri had given her a warning before anything bad happened. She wasn't going to be exactly happy if she hurt her face from not paying attention. "Ya I guess your right. More then likely I wouldn't be this rebel head that I am today and I'm sure I would be here with my brother but I'm not going to let that bring me down. I am going to be a great wolfrider, just like you Miri. I may not be able to bring my brother back from the dead but I can at least fulfill his dream of wanting me to become a wolfrider. I can't always let life get to me." Emi smiled at the memory of her brother. "Well come on, this way to my room. By the way, are you hungry? And what about Dark. If she is I'm sure I have some meat that she can eat," Emi offered as she walked towards her room.

Miri leaped off of Darkwind using her left hand, which she used to somewhat support her weight. "Hm... we just ate before we arrived here, but I'm pretty sure that Dark is still hungry after the ride." She smiled. "I'm really sorry about your brother." She ruffled Dark's head playfully, carefree as most children would be. But of course, life was never what was expected, and definitely always what you wanted.

"Hey, don't worry about it. It's been quiet a few years so the scars on my heart has some what dissapered. I just wished you had met him instead of my sister." Emi sighed. "Hey, on second thought, could you wait out here? I'll be right back." Emi speed of without waiting for a reply. She went and got some food for Dark and for herself. She had been so lost in her thoughts while she wandered the halls that she hadn't noticed how hungry she had gotten. Instead of walking all the way back to Miri and Dark, Emi decied to take a short cut and hop out a window. "Weee!" She yelled till she landed on a branch and flipped onto the ground right next to Dark. "Here's some meat." Emi held out the meat to Dark.
