i was told something, from one of my dads friends, he said that the dead go to a different dimention that is on earth, but people can not see it, because it is revolving around the sun, faster than the earth is. he said that that is why mediums can communicate with the dead. i do not understand it, but, he said that that is why mediums can talk to the dead.

That sounds totally farfetched to me. He says that this dimension is on this planet, yet how does he figure that's possible if the other dimension orbits the sun faster than the Earth does? That's just not realistic; even if there were another world of some sort that followed our orbital path at a faster speed, it still wouldn't be part of Earth (and since it moves faster, it would collide with our planet as well!)... not to mention that I see nothing about this alleged dimension that explains why mediums should be able to connect with it.
I'd like to know where he got this idea and what the explanation for it is.
 i am not sure, it could be that i was incorrect about what he said.

Anything's possible, and of course we are getting into the murky waters of belief again. I don't think I'd buy into that, but then again, stranger things have happened, and there's just no way to know. At any rate, the power of belief sometimes can do a lot in such an instance. The point is though, unless he is willing to explain the basis for his belief rationally there is no way for you to really have enough information to form an informed opinion.

Hi sorry, my brain is still feeling a bit frazzled
I'm not completely sure on how it works as there are so many theories on the idea. Some believe that the various dimentions and astral realms over lap each other but due to different vibrations (move faster or slower)than the one we are accustomed to we don't recognize the existance of the others. While another might suggest that the dimentions exist simultaniously in separate little "pockets of existance" that have no relation to another. In either event they don't necesarily share the same focal point (in this case the sun was used), but might have similarities.
And all I know about mediums is that the senses become heightened and we can pick up on things that others may or may not perceive. How that affects the other dimentions/realms I'm not sure, But from my experience it is sort of like a fine membrain that separates dimentions/realms/plains (or what ever you feel like calling them) and the medium is sort of caught inbetween which allows them to view both sides.
I don't know if that helps or not. But right now that is the best I can do. Sorry
