ok ok, don't say nothing about me obsessing over Ibanez's but the only deal i know of is if u can find an Ibanez RG from 87 through 91 buy it, there collecters items now and can easily be found for like 300$ and there fantastic.

i've read a few reviews of them i found off of google and they all turn out pretty darn good. The origanal JAPANESE models are the one to find, once they moved the production place to wherever quality started going down.

here's an old add i found while diging through google. the copyright on the page said 1990 so its one of the good ones.

Mine is in a Metalic midnight blue (i think it was called Jet Blue at the time) with a black headstock, and the original Edge Trem (lisasned under Floyd Rose)

the paint on tine acts wierd, when its in darkness or half light so to speak it is more black than blue but when lit up its an almost anoying shade of blue, and it had a black painted headstock instead of the usual body color paint.

the only problems with mine that i could find were 1 when i got it it was filthy (fixed that) 2 the action needs to be adjusted and i don;t the the Allen wrench, and the tremmelo arm was gone when i bought it, and when i got a new one i found out the ring on the inside of the trem is worn almost compleatly out so the arm will fall out easily

Squier Strats are pretty good guitars for their price...If you use a tube amp it sounds great...you wouldn't be able to tell it's cheap smile

LTD is pretty good too. You can get a great guitar for under $300 with them. I've been using my EX-50 for about 7 months, and it is in fantastic condition. Other than the dents and paint scratches it is a great guitar.

i have to agree with the squire vote hell mine sounded decent to start with, swap the pickups and u can't even tell its a squire, hell i could sell mine at the price of a standard mexican strat with my mods and refinishing job and it fretts better than my Ibanez

Ibanez and epiphone are good guitars for cheap, but it depends on the model.Don't expect the starter packages to be uber amazing though. You usually get what you pay for. I had a squier strat and epiphone special2 les paul. When you beef em up you can really shred on em.
