What are some rather intense topics of discussion? And I don't mean controversial, I mean topics that are emotionally straining. (AKA: Suicide, Break-Ups, Relationships, Family Problems, ...)

I've been wondering about this, cause we used to have threads for religion, abortion, divorce, etc... and they died.

Not many people want to talk about it..expect in the form of Lyrical Poems. It's harder ( me inculded) to speak about in a open manner.

I agree that it could be hard for many people to speak about these types of subjects openly, but I'm up to talk about anything.
Feel free to start a convo in this thread about such subjects. I'd talk about them with you (the plural you, as in anyone).

I think it was mostly Song and myself keeping those subjects up, but I don't know what happened to her, and I just drifted away due to work...
here's one, Death penalty. (has semi personal experience with that) ((long story, will tell in full length later)) (((there will be cookies)))

My opinion on the Death Penalty.
I am fine with the death penalty. As a student of criminal justice I realize that the chance of someone being wrongly executed, due to our technology (dna, fingerprinting, etc) is one in a be-jillion. Granted it has been done in the past - and that was wrong - but we are technilogically beyond that now.
Moral
If we look throughout history, the death penalty - in the majority of countries and prominant religions - has been the most common form of punishment for sin or wrong doing. I can only speak from personal experiance when talking about Christianity. The bible believes in the death penalty. Not for everything mind you (maybe in the old testament lol), but things such as murder definately get the death penalty.
The crimes that I believe should recieve the death penalty - if surely proven that the defendant is guilty - are: Murder, *****, Forceful rape(of male or female). These are most haneous crimes and I believe that they deserve the death penalty.
I trust everyone will be respectful when agreeing or disagreeing. ^.^ Thanks for listening.

I agree with the death penalty, but I disagree with who should administer the death. I think those wronged by the criminal being executed should be the executioner, but they don't decide the punishment. Only after they've been sentenced to death will the victims (or family of if they were murdered, or if the one victimized is too young to understand what they are doing) be able to execute the criminal. I agree with Scazarith about with the crimes with could lead to the death penalty.

I don't know if this falls under the subject but..Do like being proven that you are right about something or someone? Or Does it make you die a little?

Fine I'll answer my own question...Yes and No (Wow..should be made into my own little quote, only I can agree and disgree with something at the same time..) Yes, when it comfirms my believes and therefore it makes me happy (that is for the first question.) And at the same time there are those times were you so want to be wrong, but you end up being right. It is those times that make me die a little inside.

It depends. I fluxuate between pessimism and optimism weekly, so it depends where on the scale I am when I'm proven right.

the death penalty is horrible; however, i understand how someone would want it. granted, it could be done this manner:
instead of just giving a judgement and sentence, what about considering the criminal's chance to repent? what about the family's opportunity to forgive? there's an African tribe that concludes: if a criminal is caught, the punishment is carried out if the family's hunger for revenge is greater than forgiveness; thus, they'll drown him; however, if at least one family member forgives him, that person would swim to the criminal and save his life; i don't believe in killing people just because they did something wrong (even if you were Hitler, Saddam, whoever); it's only for fiends to kill and for humans to forgive.
but that's just my opinion.
