The Aisling
The Aisling are fairly small dragons making them unable to be ridden by humans. However, they are useful as scouts and messengers due to their agility and sharp eyesight.
Aisling are born from eggs, which hatch a month after they are laid. After the hatching, the Aisling grow fairly rapidly - reaching adult size within three weeks. Their colouring tends to be bright and can range from a multitude of colours.
Aisling have very long tails that can be used in a variety of ways. Their tails can be used to swipe at their opponents, to try and knock them out of the air, or they can be used more delicately to pick up things or carry things.
The Aisling, like snakes, don't have eyelids. Instead they have a thin, transparent layer of skin over their eyes that protect them from dust, being scratched or any other forms of damage. They have very sharp eye-sight and are able to see things from a distance. They use their teeth, claws and tail to defend themselves from predators.
They feed on small creatures, such as fish, insects and crustaceans and aquatic plants such as water lilies and weeds.
As a species, the Aisling tend to be very social and enjoy being in small to large clans. All of the Aisling partake in raising the young and each take on certain responsibilities or tasks for the clan. The males of the species generally act as guardians of clan. However both females and males are involved in the food gathering and hunting.
