I think if you have a first or last name that most people find hard to pronounce then a pen name would be a good idea. I'm publishing under the initals of my name because most people I incounter have a hard time pronouncing my name.

Mayla - I find the more exotic the name, the better haha. I look out for the unusual names.

When I was younger I considered using a pen name, but only because I didn't like my real name.
Now I like it.

I'll probably just use my first and middle name intials, and my last name. I prefer it when I don't know if the author is male or female (even though their full name is usually somewhere else in the book). No reason, really. I just like it.

I use a pen name mostly because I loathe my first and last name with a fiery passion they are incredibly hard to pronounce and I'm sick and tired of telling people how to pronounce them. So I use the pen name Alexis McKnight.
