"Not lazy," she responded, closing her eye again so she wouldn't have to see the wind caribou's disapproving look. "Inventive."

Winter in the Sandpainter's Canyon wasn't precisely harsh, what with the high walls sheltering it from the worst of the winds. Unfortunately, the walls of the canyon also blocked the sun at all but the warmest parts of the day.

So Rossioro had flown to the top of the canyon, to the area just bordering the Scrub Forest, and draped herself out in the sun for some serious sunbathing. Her wings were spread to their fullest span, resting against the sand, and the rest of her was sprawled in one long line of content Painter.

So maybe I am being lazy. It's winter. I'm entitled.

There was a chill in the air and it had burned his skin causing him to wake. The jungle where he slept was not helping him in the least with his problem. So many trees and so little sun, his body felt like it was frozen in place. Cracking his neck slowly the male rose to his feet, he would have to abandon his safe place and take to the skies.

Taking one look at his companion Nora he sighed. He would leave her there for now, she seemed far too peaceful in sleep. Nodding his head in goodbye to his faithful friend the male took off. Feathers ruffling as the wind hit him as he rose above the trees.

This cold is horrible, I even had to leave my home behind because of it.

As he soared his scales reflected the suns light causing him to light up like a disco ball. He was sure to attract attention of any guest flying in the sky but ignored the the thought and continued forward.

So cold....

(( Sorry this looks like crap. My muse decided to hide in a cave for awhile. xx ))

Rossioro's eyes slitted open as she heard the distant sound of wingbeats - not the deep shwoosh of a common Painter's, but the lighter, more nuanced thrum that only came from feathered wings. Someone from the forest then, coming her way. And quickly, from what she could hear.

"Well, get up and make yourself presentable," Leelia said, tapping Rossioro's nose with her small, delicate hooves. "You don't want to make an impression as a lump of lazy red scales."

"Sure I do," Rossioro murmured, but nevertheless she shifted a little, pushing her forefeet under her so she could crane her neck in the direction of the forest. The gold patches on her scales, which looked almost like sand in dull light, glowed gold when the sun struck them.

The other Painter flew with his scales directly in the sunlight's path, causing him to blaze like a beacon. Rossioro squinted, but couldn't tell who it was. She rustled her wings almost self-consciously, but left them draped against the dirt. The sun just felt too good to move.

The sun was a wonderful thing as it burned into his back, heating his chilled body as he flew towards the top of the canyon. He had decided that he would sunbathe in his free time in order to keep himself warm until it was war again.

As he headed towards the top of the canyon the male noticed something glinting in the sun. It looked like.. like gold! It looked like a large chunk of gold was sitting on the top of the canyon just waiting to be noticed and he was more than willing to take a look.

Picking up speed Seiki flew faster towards the canyon before hitting a get stream and gliding down to it. If it was gold then he would be able to use it for his pottery and show Zeph. Maybe she could make me a bell... A smile flooded his face as he got closer.

As he scanned the top of the canyon he noticed the glint was also attached to a large red form. What was that? Diving down to take a closer look the shape slowly took the form of a painter. Wait.. A PAINTER?! He couldn't stop himself and soon tumbled into a landed very close to the female painter. How embarrassing having to meet someone like that.

"....Ugh... Hello."

I will not laugh, Rossioro told herself, whipping her head around and hiding it under one wing to take deep breaths and steady herself. She was afraid that the hints of a smile still played around her features but - well, he had practically crash-landed almost on top of her.

"H-hi," she said, choking back another laugh and turning it abruptly into a polite cough. "The breezes across the canyon can be a little difficult sometimes, hm?"

"Don't be rude," Leelia said quietly.

"I wasn't being rude," Rossioro hissed back, just as quietly. "I was trying to be polite."

She picked herself up off the ground, pulling her wings in closer until they were folded neatly against her back. "I'm Rossioro," she said.

Wonderful, this female more than likely thought he was an idiot due to his less than graceful landing, she even mocked him about the winds. Furrowing his brows together Seiki took a deep breath and sighed lightly. He would have to explain to her how he had actually managed to crash land as he did.

"No.. the breeze is fine I just thought you were a large chunk of gold. When I was close enough to make out that you were a Painter though I was startled and moving far too fast to stop myself. I do apologize though." He bowed slightly in apology, picking himself up soon after.

He had been looking towards the direction of the breeze when she introduced herself so he turned his head back towards her. "I am Seiki. This cold is awful isn't it? I came here to sunbathe myself, is this a good place for it?"

He looked about the sunlight canyon top and breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed to be fairly warm, dry, and in constant sunlight, just what he wanted.
