I just learned how to spin today, on a drop spindle, and OMG THIS IS AWESOME. xd xd xd xd (nevermind that the yarn is all lumpy and stuff, I MADE IT MWEHEHEHEHE).
Ummmmm, I don't suppose there are any other spinners around here? sweatdrop

Where'd you get the wool from, what made you want to learn how to spin?

The local yarn store also sells carded but unspun wool, and spindles, and spinning wheels, so I wandered down there and the nice lady there taught me and sold me the wool. Though if I keep this up I'll probably be getting fleeces direct from local farmers, as a couple of my friends do.
I find myself dissatisfied with the variety of yarns found in knitting stores (especially sock yarn) so I felt the obvious solution was to make the stuff myself. Plus it looked fun. And it is fun! wheeeeeee.... I can make fairly thin, even yarn now, well, mostly even, it's less lumpy than it was at first...

I've heard of spinning, but I've never tried it. It sounds like a lot of fun! I've seen a short instructional video, and how to make a spinner thing out of a bit of wood and an old CD. It's something I'd like to try in the future.
