Longshore, WA: Strange things had been happening in Longshore for quite some time. Disappearances of young women that police were either unwilling or unable to solve were hitting the town like a plague and Jean was sent in to investigate the matter...but his own internal demons threaten to do him in before any external ones get a chance. Meanwhile, paranormal investigator, Richard, is having breakfast in a local cafe when a pretty new face belonging to Svelte enters the room and captures the attention of the shift manager, Ryan, who leaves with her for a trip to the bluffs (a wilderness area where several old homes are located). Maoji, an ancient man who can communicate with technological devices, has made his way to Longshore as well, in search for answers to the questions posed by these disappearances. Elsewhere, the clinically insane "Madame" has made her way out of her hotel fortress, trying to find her missing diary. Her search has led her to the same cafe the others were in before Svelte left with Ryan...who apparently has her diary. Before working alongside Kurt, the county coroner, analyzing the body of a recent murder victim, Richard saw a terrible vision of a young girl in the coroner's office who whispered the words "3212". He has since made his way to the library, uncovering facts about several similar disappearances in this town at the turn of the century...and trying to find out more about the mysterious number which keeps reappearing.
Chicago, IL: Everyone at school was talking about the big party this weekend and Angela was going to be there, whether her parents liked it or not. True to expectations, the party was a real experience...playing a kissing game of 7 minutes in heaven, Angela waited in the closet for someone to come in - hopefully her crush. And she waited, and waited...as the voice of Joe, a former DPID agent who was living in her subconscious mind, whispered of danger. The party goers were shaken to the core as the decapitated body of a girl, her organs burning in a trashcan and a pentagram written in blood along with the words "it wasnt me" turned up on the garage. Angela was assaulted in the closet by the killer, her was sobbing as he slowly began to slit her throat until the door burst open and Kisho, an asian man with the power to leave his body, saved her life. The attacker threw him across the room and fled, disappearing in the chaos. Before the police arrived, freelance demon hunter, Aven Cross assessed the situation, taking in as much evidence as he could. After the police began their investigation, another party appeared dressed in suits and driving black sedans. These mysterious agents took everyone into custody, including Carla, a college student who sensed the demonic energy of the place and came to have a look. The agents turned out to be with the DPID - a department of the government devoted to the investigation of the paranormal. Those in custody were tasked with protecting Angela, who (with Joe in control) volunteered to be bait so that the killer would reveal himself once more. Aven, however, was recruited by the DPID for another task and sent to Braxton, LA.
After several weeks of no activity, a sudden cold swept over the suburb of Chicago. Angela's dog was killed in her backyard, in full view of the DPID steak-out and similarly cryptic message was written on the wall in its blood. Kisho and Carla were the only agents to respond as Angela climbed up onto the roof for safety. (3/14/09 - Cyb3r ) Through the midst of an attack on her life, a new arrival stumbled onto the scene by the name of "Cyk." The killer of the dog, as well as the alleged attacker, revealed himself as he attempted to find Angela, knocking away Kisho and Carla and breaking through the window in chase. Cyk had leapt to the roof where Angela was and did his best to quell the attack but could not stop his unnatural strength. Carla blasted him with a fireball and Cyk stabbed him in the ribs with two throwing daggers, causing the berserk man to rage. Amidst the rage, Kisho used a banishing spell on the man, causing him to be stunned and lead to his fall off of the roof, killing the medium. Due to Kisho's vow of Pacifism, he could not control the violent seizure that overwhelmed him, putting the others in danger.
Braxton, LA: After checking in to her hotel, Claire, a reporter from a larger nearby city, began scouring the town for some news...any news. On outs with her company, she needed a good story to take back. Some instinct told her to start with a nearby funeral. The funeral was for a distant relative of Lucas, a blind young man with a living demonic shadow. The two attended the funeral but were surprised to learn that the graveside service would be at a different location, outside of town, in a graveyard by a swamp. The group relocated and heavy rains forced the service to an early close that evening. As Claire drove her new friend home, the difficulty of driving down the country road in the pouring rain forced her off-road where the car wrecked in the swamp. The two exited the car, seeing something move in the shadows of the headlights...but managed to escape the swamp with only the watchful gaze of some unknown creature following them as they made their way to the highway where a kind, if somewhat mysterious stranger picked them up and drove them back to town. The only fare he asked for the ride was a picture of them both. Back at the hotel, the two ran into the establishment's newest patron - Aven Cross, an undercover DPID agent sent to investigate paranormal activity in Braxton.
