This may turn out to be a very important case. Our laws are so flimsy and old on these situations. But they could change the laws to make this much more difficult for body modifiers.

I'm in two minds about this case. On the one hand he was practising medicine without a liscence which has consequences. But I can also see the potential for reprucussions making it more difficult for body modifiers, as seeing as if they change the law in Canada its likely to ripple further out to the US and the UK will most likely follow suit.

I agree about the blurred line between modification and medicine, but it was consenting adults... and on top of that, what they're specifically charging him with is ridiculous! ...either way, the potential repercussions worry me...

I'm thinking that maybe there should be further licensing for those types of modifications. But the whole "aggravated assault" thing... that's too far.

If he's going to be charged it should be for practising medicine without a licence, not aggravated assault. At least for the labiaplasty since that's actually written as a medical practitioner only thing.
As for the scarring and branding and other things, that's what's going to be affected across Canada depending on this case.

He's out on bail now but hurting from lack of funds since he couldn't work while incarcerated. .__.
