Most people will tell you diet and exercise.
My opinion? A consistant workout schedule will be out diet any day of the week.

If you try to diet, you'll just crave what you want and can't have even more. So, eat things like Icecream and Doughnuts and Cake in moderation.

As to a regime to ahdere to, it needs to be something that works your core muscles.

Although Sit-ups are helpful, they only work certain muscles. I suggest you try several different exercises and put them together in a workout (or just wait and I'll post some workouts for you guys to try ^_^)
This will help, but it will take time. There are no sure fire ways to get a flat stomache in a short amount of time. At least not ones that are healthy.

I've been doing pretty well on the diet and exercise front, and am losing weight at a nice pace so far. I'm eating moderately and healthily, keeping hydrated, and doing a 20 minute strength training routine in the morning and a mile or more on the treadmill at night. So far I've lost 13 pounds but the weight sort of falls off from all over, and I'm afraid that after a while I'll be trimmer all over but with this...this...poochy pouchy flap-belly hanging off! D:

I'll try the idea of adding more stomach-centered exercises to target this area. <3 Thankee.

No Problem. I added a few exercises for you guys to use. If any of the instructions seem to hard to understand, let me know. I'll add some links to show a bit more elaboration.

Question: Is swimming backstroke less viable exercise than other strokes?

Although even if it isn't, I'll probably stick with that stroke because I'm more likely to freak out if I swim with my face in the water... sweatdrop

No. It works your muscles just as hard as if your doing freestyle, breaststroke, or butterfly.

I would, however, recommend you try the other strokes. You can do breaststroke with your head out of the water. Freestyle is a bit harder, but manageable.

Butterfly, on the other hand, requires your head to be more or less submerged all the time.

If you want techniques on swimming, let me know. I used to be a lifeguard. ^_^

oh... this is kinda cool... have a question. why does too much phyical exertion cause you to become physically ill? like if you run too much and you can't catch your breath... then you just... well... puke... why is that?

Alot of that has to do with the intake of oxagen into the stomach. When you run, if you do not practice good breathing techniques you tend to ingest oxagen. When the stomach fills up to a point, nausea sets in.

Keeping a rythium when you breath, and using the nose/mouth inhalation/exhalation technique minimizes this.
