I am thinking ahead to having children and names for them. Would it be offensive to you, as a Jew, for me to name a child using the Sephirah? I was largely considering Yesod for a boy or Chesed or Binah for a girl.

I understand that some do not like to say things relating to God, nor to even say God. However, I disagree with this reasoning for this reason- God is infinite. God is therefore impossible for us to express with words, no matter what they mean or how many books we write we can never define God. As such, no name we can call God can truly define God either as they are all finite, and God is infinite. So if we use the name of God, or parts of the name of God, we cannot be committing a crime, since God isn't defined by what we call Him, and so the name is but an effigy or idol of it's own sort.

Of course, there may be scripture and philosophy to say otherwise, but I believe that God is living, and as a living religion, He deserves living philosophy that can change, as God is infinite and can be seen in an infinite number of ways.

Aren't there parts of G-d name in most Hebrew Names like Daniel and Shmuel? neutral I don't see the problem with those..

Still, I probably wouldn't do it, but then again I wouldn't name your kids. You would. Do what you want.

Dude go for it. Many names in Judaism have parts of Gods many names in them. Also there are many sites that you can check out for Jewish names.

Behind the name.com, and you can try typing in Hebrew baby names.

Also a large amount of Spanish, and Italian names are Jewish names just with a Spanish and Italian pronaunce. Example Emmanuel is pure hebrew, and the same is with Raphael.

Keep in mind, that if you give your kids a holy name equivalent to HASHEM, anything you right their name on becomes a sacred text, and it's a sin to destroy or deface a sacred text.

Lol.

Any name with -el at the end usually means it is a sacred name. For example, my name: Joel.

It's the same with, as pointed out, Daniel, Raphael, Emmanuel, Shmuel, and many more.

Like Rachel,... uh,

Kal-El, Jor-El, and Mon-El...lol (Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster, two Jews. Also, for the record, Batman's creator Bob Kane and many other comic giants were Jewish. I ahe written paragraphs on this subject.)

Actually has anybody realized that many Marvel and DC comic book characters embody Jewish values very well, and that many of the heros and villains that are Jewish are more of the anti-heros that extremely good reasons for what they do. Example, Magneto.

Magneto is a Jew. His origin story (depending on which one you go by) says that his family was very religious, and that his powers came up because of the Holocaust. Magneto lost all of his family in it. Magneto likens the problem that mutants face in X-MEN with that of Jews in todays world.

HOLY CRAP! I JUST REALIZED THAT THE MUTANTS IN X-MEN ARE US, THE JEWS! AND THE NON-MUTANTS ARE THE NON-JEWS! DUDE!

Just because you're in a concentration camp, doesn't mean you're a Jew.

They could of just as easily been Jehovah's Witnesses or intellectual pacifists.
