New Game. I'm sick and tired of making a genre game and never getting past the first two genres. So, I'm making a thread for every genre, discussing each genre's weakness and strengths. That way everyone can get a overview of all the genres at the same time without waiting months for the next stage.
Go.
Strengths: The vocals can be downright perfect, it's a shame that so few vocalists actually do it right. When it's done right, boy howdy, we have a winner. Old School, heavy, Death Metal IS my definition of true, heavy, legit Metal.
Weaknesses: Sometimes it's overdone, and underdone at the same time. Lyrics can be corny and can lack imagination. Ex: BLOOD! RAPE! BLEEDING ENTRAILS! ZOMBIE FLESH ROT MY CORE!

Strengths: The amazing vocals done by some can be quite breath takingly awesome. The technicality and preciseness of the guitar riffs are pure greatness. The heavy blastbeats and breakdowns of Death Metal easily make it one of my favorite subgenres of the whole Metal genre.
Weakness: Recently its been taken over by scene kids attempting to be brutal. The lyrics can most definitaly lack imagination as Hollow already said, and some Death Metal can be very boring and monotonous.

Melodeath edition
Strengths: Ridiculously awesome riffs and solos that should have whiplash warnings, melody and harmony keep the songs from degenerating into freeform pot-banging, some very talented growlers, tasteful use of keyboards in many bands, brutality in measure, frequent use of acoustic bridges and intros
Weaknesses: Largely helped spawn the deathcore and metalcore embarrassments, the watering-down and commercialization of classic bands, many bands completely lack originality

Strength: Easily one of the most aggressive and intense genres, and really good musicianship in the good bands. Weakness: Overuse of 16th notes on the double bass. Oftentimes for whole songs. Ugh.

Yeah, now every time I tell someone I like Job For A Cowboy they think im some scene kid. Job For A Cowboy is a pretty good example of a good death metal band though. I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I disliked their grindcore demos and really hated their Death Metal release, they should have stuck to grindcore.

Yeah, now every time I tell someone I like Job For A Cowboy they think im some scene kid. Job For A Cowboy is a pretty good example of a good death metal band though.
