History: (set in the late 1980s, its hard to explain the liberalism of his mindset through his history. Growing up in San Fransisco was the largest factor, along with the fact it was a way for him to rebel against his family.)

He was born in San Francisco to a hard core WASP family, (WASP means White Angelo-Saxon Protestant). As a child, he didn't see much of his parents, and was sent to private schools where he would become 'an upstanding young man for today's society'. In other words, a good little god fearing Christian. It was at the private school's masses that he became fluent in Latin, (the language used during the church services), at his father and mother's prodding. Dorian wasn't academically geared...not unless his parents told him to be. Somewhat alone most of the time, as his parents were never home, 12 year old Dorian would often escape from his family's manor and run downtown to Chinatown, slipping through the gates, much to the distress of his nannies. It was also at this time that he became a good liar and manipulator, (after all, he had to tell the nannies something).

This is where he meet his best friend Gao. They became akin to secret friends, as both Dorian's and Gao's parents wanted their children to have nothing to do with each other. Gao was to grow up and run his family's cliche Chinese restaurant, and Dorian was supposed to grow up and take over his dad's law firm, the two families didn't want their child to be 'corrupted'. The two boys would commonly escape and play together, it was through his time with Goa and in Chinatown, that Dorian came to understand Chinese, though he could hardly read it, Gao taught his Chinese through the back streets of Chinatown, and through the market places where they commonly played.

At 16, Dorian and Gao were brothers in everything but blood. However, this would not last. Gao's family had gotten caught up in a gang war, and one which they would loose, due to their previous ties to a fallen gang. Seeing Gao with Dorian sparked the animosity from they rival gang. Eventually, after a year of smoke screens, Gao was found beaten to death. Dorian blamed himself for Gao's death and managed to manipulate his father to represent Gao's family in court. The rival gang was put behind bars, but not before they put a price on Dorian's head. At 18, Dorian ran away to Oregon, figuring that the Chinese gang wouldn't look for him in the middle of no where. It was there that he grew to love nature and he desired to preserve it.

For his year in Oregon, he arrived with no money, and no possessions. Thankfully, an old mechanic took him in, as Dorian reminded him of his dead son. The mechanic tried to help Dorian find his place, if it be fixing cars, or living in the woods. The two become friends, but, Dorian could not help but notice the old man's growing dementia. After 5 months of living in the middle of no where with the elderly man, the gray mechanic died, leaving Dorian with a small amount of money, and the car they had repaired together. Driving to the big city of Portland, he found that he did have a weakness...girls. He was fine around them...until they began to flirt. He would melt at anything they said. Figuring city life, and city girls, (which he found ironic considering his upbringing), were not his place, he moved back into the woods, learning on his own how to live off of the land.

He only noticed time's distortion when he saw a dinosaur, (thankfully a vegetarian one), in the woods. Shocked, he began investigate. More and more, animals would disappear, extinct ones return, and ones that had never been known cropped up. Time was out of whack, and the balance of nature with it. The woods he once loved became barrens, and the country he came to love for its freedoms began to crumble.

Check the history post; it would lovely to split it into more paragraphs, just so it's easier to read. But there are a few grammatical/spelling errors, so I think it would be beneficial to look it over.

I like some of his quirks, such as his apparent mechanic skills, but some things I don't think are explained thoroughly enough. For example-- his liberalism. Perhaps this is a time frame thing? I think it would help clarify if you provided a more set time period as to when Dorian existed. This is the big thing; it's good when things are incorporated into the story of a character, rather than simply listed.
