Three tails blended and braided together in idle boredom as the tan kitsu made her way across the meadow's space. It was a clear day out, a strange similarity to her thoughts right now. Just....clear and open, like the cloudless sky above. Almost too clear that it was distracting. Murky eyes trailed back though as Nahanni tried to refocus.

There, it was that same tree she's been using as a marker since earlier. Why did it look to be further than before? Panting some, the femme paused to take a deep breath. As tedious as this routine may seem, it was well needed and enjoyed. Some cardio was good for the body and thus mind afterall. And a wonderful stress reliever for her always tied nerves.

Giving a tiny twitch to the corner of her lip, Nahanni bounded forward once more across the soft grass. Just how many rounds could she achieve today?

User Image One of the few reliefs in his life had become a mundane spectacle now. Nature had always been nice in his eyes, but not beautiful or anything fleeting like that. No, it was something different, something he thought maybe he couldn't quite place, something that set it apart from the other organics that made the world as dark as it was.

Blinking and looking to the leaves of the canopy, he sighed. Lately he'd been unable to recall the slight passion his life mission brought him. Withdrawing into the woods, he'd neglected to seek out any little kits to spread the message of truth and, surprisingly, he hadn't felt the urge as he used to. Perhaps his life really was becoming nothing important.

Feeling a change in the ground as he moved from the trees to the meadow didn't affect him as it usually would. He just kept walking, looking straight ahead with mostly blank eyes. But in the near distance, something moved before him. It was... familiar. Muscles tensing, he lifted his head.

Four, four seemed like enough rounds....

Nahanni slowed as she approached the tree, her ears drooping as she tried to catch her breath. Shame she could only reach a certain speed and distance before exhausting out, and it was such a poor result. Maybe it was because she used magic too often to teleport, causing her frailty? Who knew. Taking a seat, the kitsu sighed as she unwound from her exercise. Maybe she could try again, since the day was still young. Even if she wasn't so much anymore, she shouldn't feel this weary after so few activites.

Flicking one ear, the femme turned her head to a faint sound. More grass was being shuffled, but from where she couldn't tell...

Still walking with a mostly uncontrolled step and a partial curiosity, Ikuinen moved closer and closer to that familiar something, though it began to move away from him. Brows furrowing, he willed his paws to go just a bit faster, just enough that he didn't lose this something that had piqued his interest enough to distract him from the useless feeling that had been slowly but surely overtaking him. It didn't take long for his intense gaze to finally recognize the fluff of a mainly tan coat. The normally placid expression he wore softened some as he moved up behind her in time to note the back-flick of her ear.

"Dear..." the greeting nearly stuck in his throat, his voice so unused as of late. Clearing the dust, he tried again. "Dear Nahanni." Stopping in his trek, he waiting for her to take notice. It had been too long since they'd been in each other's company. For the moment, even the cordially inclined male couldn't think of much to say.

Dear?...

Red locks brushed passed her vision and she could finally see the approaching individual. And surprise colored her eyes as familiarity sunk in. "Ikuinen? Really?" This was no specter of fatigue, less she'd be seeing her precious mother or father. And the details were too great for her memory to fully repeat. "It is, isn't it? What an unexpected surprise...it's nice to meet you again."

She turned so she was politely facing the other, sitting with tails covering her toes. He seemed well enough, physique proving good health. And he even seemed to be wearing a...kindly expression. That was rare enough on its own. She wondered what brought that on, let alone her long gone friend to this meadow. "How have you been?"

Canting his head, he wondered momentarily if she had been expecting someone else. It was an interesting reaction to say the least, but her shift into polite conversation returned the sense of familiarity that he was sure had drawn him to this place. "It is nice to see you, as well," he responded, letting the expression he wore remain a while longer before he pulled it in again, looking as stoic as usual. He thought he felt happy now, but it was still easier to relax his face. It was just something he was used to. "I have been we-" Lying wasn't something he did often and the pressure that began to build behind he eyes was a reminder of why. Stopping short, he shook his head. Normally, to keep from lying but to escape telling the truth, he would spin a line of fancy words to throw back at his company. With her, he figured it wouldn't much matter either way. "I have been better."

Nahanni allowed the expression to change without question, knowing it was the others most natural poise. She bobbed her head in gratitude to the others words before shifting eyes back up to him. His pause in tongue went well noticed, but she held herself from offering any aiding words. The male might not appreciate any unneeded sympathy. "Better? I'm sorry to hear that. What has happened of late," Her voice dimmed with each word, realizing she was imposing, ".....if I might ask?" Her tail ends brushed her sash to keep herself from 'sweating' over her little boldness.

(sorry so short Dx wink

Examining her reaction, Iku neglected to take her question into consideration right away. With others, it was quite possible he would find himself unwilling to answer such an inquiry. With her, it was far more acceptable than she seemed to think. Still, it was enlightening to note that everytime she thought she was pushing a boundary she pulled back a bit. At least she had manners. Not like most of the other adults he knew. That simple fact was probably one of the reasons he liked her at all. "Nothing," he answered, this time the honesty complete and obvious. A smirk of sorts crossed his maw before fading as quickly as it came. "I fear that is the problem." Nothing. Yes, that was definitely what he was doing and had begun to feel.

((No worries. <3))

It was quiet for some moments, and Nahanni almost thought he was dismissing the topic all together. But then he spoke, a simple but harsh word of reply. "...nothing? Nothing at all?" Well, winter was still in the air, even if not so harsh on this day. Or this general area, with her family's enchantments keeping snow at bay. Maybe it was acceptable for creatures to be lethargic on such a season. Though it didn't seem to make it any easier to pass the time with....

Muzzle pinched in deep thought, almost as if she knew the symptom this other kitsu was speaking. Even if she couldn't successfully recount them all, she still knew what he spoke. "Then you must solve it, yes?" But how, when there was no one around to preach to anymore? That had always been the male's outlet of living, but now what?...

"Um, care to...have a walk then? It's not 'nothing' at least..."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 28, 2009 2:13 pm

"Nothing at all," he responded simply, agreeing. Well, nothing besides wandering around forlornly and wondering if he should just leave this territory all together. Although, as much as he refused to admit it, this place had become familiar and somewhat acceptable. It would be hard to leave.

Canting his head at her question, he thought for a moment about how to respond before she continued, offering up a solution. "A walk?" he half-asked, half-stated. That was what he had been doing. Just walking. More like wandering, really. Then again, he supposed it couldn't hurt. If nothing else, things would merely stay the same as they were now. And walking with someone else must certainly be different in one way or another. "Alright," he answered with a slight nod, one ear sliding back and flicking a bit. "Do you have somewhere in mind?"

He repeated her statement and Nahanni flushed. How embarrassing, her saying the obvious. Certainly no interesting flow of topic there. Shaking herself out, she took a depth and calming breath. Her nerves again, they always flared at the slightest doubt.

"Well, if that's too boring for you, we can always Key Port somewhere....." Her fan proved useful in that task of quick transport. However.. "Um, no...to be honest." And Iku didn't seem to care whichever way they'd travel. "Maybe the riverside? I've never seen it frozen before..." Or was that too boring too?

The second ear slid back now. Before he had a chance to think about mentioning the extent of her nervousness, the next statement made him slightly curious. "Key Port?" Iku questioned, having not previously known that her powers extended beyond empathy. However, that sounded like some sort of transportation when he took the time to ponder it. Having experienced her abilities on another occasion, he didn't put such a thing past her . Sure, her attempts to help him recover some of the things he'd lost had failed and it had been somewhat painful for both. Still, he certainly didn't doubt her skill, even if he thought she just might. "I wouldn't mind seeing the river..." he assured with a slight nod and shift. "Please feel free to show me this Key Porting."

The female nodded faintly. "Yes, a Key Port...or Port Key as well." It was indeed a form of travel, through the use of magic. It was fairly common for Nahanni's household, though she preferred to walk naturally on fair weathered days. And though today seemed like one of those days, she wouldn't mind using some magic for light entertainment.

"Alright then." With red dipped tails twitching, the kitsu pulled out her favorite item. A yellow paper fan, which she flicked open with ease. "I often use this as the Key. Just a chant and it 'activates' for transport." Most Keys stayed on and reacted to touch. But for the fan, that wasn't really an option.

Dropping the fan gently on the ground, Nahanni whispered a few words of power, before glancing at Iku. "Alright, it's ready. Now we just touch at the same moment. Ready?"

There was a different feeling in the air now, he thought. A different aura. Familiar and strange all at the same time. Of course, the more he thought on it, the more his rational self called him the fool. It had been a long while since he last experienced her powers. This was certainly nothing more than misplaced anticipation. This wouldn't turn out the same as last time. The goals were completely separate.

"Magic is very strange, don't you think?" he spoke out quietly, watching the fan at their paws with a blank expression. "I'm still not so sure I understand it." Lifting a forpaw, he hovered it over the Key. So, simply touching this would take them to their desired location? He did believe her, that much was true. "I may hesitate if I wait much longer. Here we go, then." Watching carefully, he tried to moved steady enough that they could both tap the fan at the same moment.

"Very strange. That's one reason why I tend to avoid it....." The kitsu shook her head, finding her own statement to be an odd shame. What when the whole of her family tended to pride themselves in their abilities, she nulled them for more natural purposes. Something she honestly preferred, and to that end felt no shame.

"Nn, sorry. I'm horrible with explaining things. Just...imagine a magic door. You go through and enter a new space. Same with touching the object." She 'ohed' to herself quietly as Iku spoke his motions, and she lifted her paw to carefully mimic. Both earth tone paws descended and at the same enough moment, touch the tiny fan. What felt like wind ruffled through their fur, and the scenery around them blurred like a watercolor painting. The femme squinted her eyes, herself having a sensitive equilibrium. "Just, keep holding the fan."

And nearly right after she spoke, the wind began to die down. The spinning blur around them started to slow down and look somewhat normal. Except the greens were replaced with blue, and browns with whites. Blinking, Nahanni glanced around like a nervous kit. "We're here..."
