About a week ago I was playing CoD: WaW online when my PS3 froze, I couldn't press the PS button so i had to turn it off in the back, after waiting a minute i turned it back on and started it up and tried to play CoD when after a while it stops loading and pops up: An error occurred during the start operation. (80010514). So then i tried LBP and the same thing happened, it stops loading and the error comes up. So i called Sony and they said i'll have to send it in sad
When i get some money I'm gonna send it in...I've been without a PS3 for a little more then a week...but I got a X360 for x-mas so i'm not that bored
Has this happened to anybody else?

So your PS3 froze and you turned it off by turning the switch in the back of it?
That is why you're getting the problem.
NEVER NEVER EVER do that to the PS3 UNLESS it is in standby. If your PS3 freezes you need to hold down the front power button over by the disc tray. The PS3 WILL properly restart itself.
Doing it the way you did cuts ALL POWER off right away which ends up damaging the BD drive or the HDD. And just from browsing other PS3 forums over 90% of people who have broken PS3s got them broke by doing that.

Yes but Sailorcancer, that pretty power button on the back is practically labled "touch me... please touch me" xd Unfortunatly now adays people think that is a smart idea because "they do it with their PCs", which isnt tru either actually, since PCs now have the same switch. People just dont think sometimes.
Other times, its just an honest mistake, as there ARE some peices of hardware out there you can do that too safely.

gonk gonk So i messed my PS3 up myself...I've always turned it off that way if something like that happens, because that's what my friend does...do you think its the way i turn it off when the freezing happens is the reason it won't load the game? or is it just that messed up gonk

I dn't even know there was a power button on the back of my PS3. WOw.
But Sailorcancer2004's right. Always turn it off in the front. Not the back.

That's why. Have you sent your PS3 in? There are some stuff we can TRY out.

I thought the 80010514 error had to do with the HDD not the blu ray drive. You're gonna have to send it in.
