When he looked back on it, the hippogriff had to wonder if he had made his decision too quickly. In the same day he had been told of the Hellene territories he had agreed to join their ranks. Was that decision even well thought out? It was natural for Sanue to second-guess himself, especially with something as large a decision as this one. Of course he was very much looking forward to his meat-eating friend's company, and it would be nice to share tales of successful hunts and perhaps even practice hunting larger game together. That, he had no problems with. However he hadn't had the chance to really study the herd in general, nor its members. He supposed he'd have to wait and see how things turned out, and at the very least there was sparring to keep him entertained. He was, after all, feeling very tense as of late and had even gone as far as wanting to meet up with one of those judgemental bastards on his trip to Yisi, and seriously delve into a fight.
At the moment he had ventured out of the territories of the Hellenes, to better think on his own and study his own thoughts. Such a process was daunting, and he was easily distracted, so it took some time to do so. Hopefully he would not come to regret joining the warrior herd, for whatever reason. It would need to be a terrible experiance, he considered, to make him regret this decision. At the very least, he would need to lose contact with Ignatius again, and he wasn't planning on doing so. He considered as well, it was going to be an adjustment to the way of life he was use to leading, for seclusion had kept him out of contact with most anyone.
The hippogriff ruffled the feathers that lined his neck and snorted with a shake of his avian looking head. That was enough thinking for now, the process was frustrating he didn't often get the answers he was looking for. Instead, Sanue kicked his heels up and jolted into a rocking lope across the valley, he wouldn't go too far, but right now he just wanted to move. Screw the dolts that saw him and shied away at the sight of his flashing talons, he was still looking for that one idiot egotistical enough to point out just how different he was for the sake of being brave and defying the 'beast'. For precisely that's just how the mutated Jala was feeling right now, as if his talons craved to grip the flesh of another in combat.

Okay. So she had gotten lucky and found a shrila that had somewhat known the direction she would need to travel in, but this time Mecriana had decided to walk instead of fly. Her wings were tired from all her attempted flight, and she was too distracted with frustration to even consider being concentrated enough to fly over the area. With her luck she'd wind up running into the tops of trees, or crashing into the ground. Maybe even smacking into the side of a mountain! With her she was never able to tell what may happen. With a flick of her dark tail, Mecriana snorted and continued on her way, at a nice leisurely trot, toward the direction she had been pointed into. Hopefully that shrila hadn't given her the wrong information, it'd be terrible and waste of... well, kindness on her part. She had attempted to be somewhat mannered and had reined in her tongue when it started babbling about her black coat and some warrior herd. Pfft. Like she cared where she went, no one would tell her where or how to travel. It didn't occur to the fiesty mare that maybe the shrila had been trying to warn her out of kindness. As she went along her way a blur of silver in the distance caught her attention. Who was that? Interestingly enough they were headed in this direction, and Mecriana wasn't about to move out of the way so as not to cross its path. Heh, that, and she was quite curious.

The hippogriff's fierce hawk-like eyes gazed at the approaching figure in the distance. He hadn't noticed it before, but perhaps he had been too engulfed in his own thoughts to really take a good look around. His sight seemed to be better than most normal nequus', thanks to his avian features, so he was able to make out the coat pattern at a much further distance than most would have been able to do. Black and white with spots, and he also noted the feathered wings that clung slightly to the individual's sides and back. Jala. Something seemed vaguely familar about the approaching figure, but for whatever reason he wasn't able to fully recall why. Perhaps whomever it was hadn't made a big impression, although most of the nequus he happened upon seemed be grouped in the same, vaguely familar term of memory. Its not like he was going to remember every idiot that shied away from him or tried to chase him off.
They had gotten closer in the time he had used to ponder the situation and the individual, and apparently they had spotted him for they were looking directly at him. However they did not deter from his path, nor did they slow their pace. Either she, for it was a mare his nostrils told him, hadn't seen his mutations, or she was one of the curious few who wanted a better view because they didn't believe their eyes. Whatever the reason, Sanue had no intention of vearing off the path to make way for her.

She wasn't quite sure if she could trust the shrila's advice, and perhaps it would be a good idea to ask directions of someone who had already come from the direction she was heading in? It seemed like a good idea, but then again so had asking a shrila. If anything she should just bother anyone and everyone for directions, and go the way that seemed the most suitable. That seemed like a good idea too. But whatever. She was also curious about meeting another nequus, for she was by no means anti-social. Now when they started arguing points and being rude, that's when she got all... what did Scabbers call it, scrappy. Something like that. She didn't exactly pay attention when he was scolding her.
As they grew closer to one another, and she was finally able to see his features, she first noticed the strange things were his hooves should have been. What are those! Now that she was focusing on the approaching creature, and his legs, she noticed the distinct digits and the lack of, well, a normal hoof. She seemed to remember a creature with taloned forelegs- NO WAY! The bird-brain guy that Aitumn introduced her too! Yup, the feathers, the pointed beaky, muzzle, it was him alright.
Mecriana tossed her head to the sky in a rather wild way as she remembered their last encounter. He had been rude enough to leave without telling her good-bye, and now that she thought about it, he was quite ugly as well. Humph! Not that she had been able to fully see his adornments in the dark, but the impression had been there. You'd think someone who looked like that would at least have the decentcy to be mannered to other nequus, especially ones they just met. Well, she didn't easily let grudges go, and he did deserve a good a** kicking for his previous manners, or lack there of. She'll show him. It wasn't nice to be rude! Flicking her ears back in an assertive manner, the paintaloosa slowed her pace and pranced a few steps forward, slightly fanning her wings out away from her body to get the message across. "Not even gonna say 'hi' this time?" the fiesty mare huffed, flagging her tail.

More or less that's the reaction he had expected, right down to the aggressive posture. Though as much as he would have loved to tear into her just for that, the familiority came at him full tilt when she spoke to him. What was her name... Mecriana. The black and white spotted pelt, the braided forelock, and of course that 'all bets are off' way of talking. He should have figured his luck was bad the day he came out the way he did, for as it was he rightfully could not attack her for no other reason than her bad manners. After all, unfortunatly, she was a friend of Aitumn's. In fact, the blood bay stallion had introduced them at the beach, and he found the other stallion to be at least somewhat respectable. It'd be bad karma if he were to repriment Mecriana in the way he wanted to.
Rather disgruntled, in not somewhat annoyed, Sanue arched his own neck and came to a stiff hault not too far off. Lucky little mare. "I aplogize for my manners, 'hello'," he more than snarked, over emphasizing his supposed 'apology'. Just because he wouldn't fight her, didn't mean he couldn't return her 'warm' welcome in kind. Crazy little mare. Crazy little attractive mare. Hu! What? The hippogriff blinked slightly at this surprising thought, and indeed got a better look at the individual in front of him. Well muscled, sturdy looking, yet with such a girl'ish unruliness to her that gave her the impression of being an 'untameable beauty'. Exotic almost. Either his head wasn't screwed on tight enough, or he had happened to find Aitumn's young friend as, well, attractable.
This was definatly something that needed to be avoided if at all possible. She was much younger than him, and he can't help but think he'd somehow be betraying Aitumn. Crossly shaking his head to snap out of those sort of thoughts, he just barely missed the wind of one of her hooves swing across his nose. Surprised, the hippogriff balked and stared daggers at the now fuming mare in front of him. Firstly, he didn't want to fight Aitumn's friend, and secondly, he didn't want to fight her because of his previous thoughts. "Settle down, will ya!" She wasn't making either of these reasons easy to follow through on. And he wasn't big on being a push over.

"I will not settle down!" Geez, did he have to make it so flippin' obvious that he was checking her out? And he was rude! Again! That more than deserved a good kick to the nose, even if her aim was a little off with that one. But geez! To even think of a guy like him checking out someone like her! Mec wasn't entirely full of herself, but as a Jala she had pride in who she was and she believed she was deserved better than this feather-brained freak. "Keep your stupid looks to yourself, Beaky, I'm not letting you get anywhere near that close to me", the paintaloosa huffed, raising her head and pinning her ears.
He was so ugly and weird! The very thought sickened her, as did any thoughts of even touching him. Nequus shouldn't have feathers on their necks, they shouldn't have bird-claws where hooves should be, and they definatly shouldn't have beaks on their muzzles. He did happen to take a step towards her though, and that's when she came to the decision that she'd have to drive him off. Pawing at the cold earth beneath her hooves, Mecriana charged for the feathered stallion, fully prepared to sink her teeth into his flesh or her hooves into his bulk.

Attractive, but utterly annoying. If anyone should know anything about physical apperances and how they don't quite relate with personalities, its Sanue. Just because he didn't want to start a fight however, did not mean he wouldn't defend himself. Especially after she started charging toward him. Though he should probably take care not to fatally injure her for any of the previous reasons, that would be regretable if he wanted to keep Aitumn as a friend. An annoyance surely, especially after that little nickname she gave him. To say the least it ruffled his feathers. To say the most, he would have liked to tear her throat out for giving him such disgusted looks.
Then again, what stallion didn't like to be rejected when they were caught staring? The reasons didn't matter, he would not allow her to walk all over him. As she neared, and as he stood his ground, she had made the decision to rear directly in front of him. Probably in hopes of bringing her hooves down against his skull, but he couldn't be sure, he just reacted and adjusted to the things his opponent happened to do.
Bunching his thick haunch muscles, Sanue pushed himself forward and and lowered his head into what would have almost been a buck had he not simply carried his charge forward. As it was, the hippogriff plowed his shoulder into her exposed chest and uppder belly without regret. Had he not the upper hand of balance at the time, it would have been likely they would have ended in a stale mate, but her rear had offset her stance, and she went tumbling backwards. After a few stumbling steps Sanue recovered himself and stood glaring down at the spotted mare, his wings partially opening in a threatening gesture. "I suggest we leave it at this and simple part ways. Obviously we do not enjoy each other company." Obviously. He had no patience for judgemental bastards, though in this case, bitches.

Down she went, surprised as all hell, but not at all shocked into submission. He really should have known better, to think she would be done after a single blow. Yes her chest hurt, and it didn't do wonders for her back, but the mare merely sneered at the thought of submitting to him when she was still able to fight. "Screw you!" A good lashing out from her hind hooves in a kick towards his legs had him dancing away, and that gave her enough time to roll over and gather her hooves underneath her belly. Vertigo. Ick. She hated the feeling she got from rolling over too quickly, and it only increased when she stood fully and plunged toward the recovering stallion, her head snaking out this time to grab onto his neck as she did so.
It wasn't quite so much as the reasons before she was persuing this fight, but rather principal. She would not be a coward like her father, she would not grovel and plead and walk on eggshells because it was the 'proper' thing to do, or because he didn't have the spine to take control. No. Mecriana would prevail, she'd fight, she'd survive, and she'd only give up if it was dire to said survival. At the moment, it was not dire, she felt as if she could win this little dual and she would fully take advantage of that confidence.

Gods above she was a quick little devil! Quicker than he could have ever hoped to be, and it seemed in the time it took him rattle away to avoid a potentially devasting injury to the rather flimsy bones of his hind legs, she had already made it to her hooves. Forget countering this next attack, Sanue's reaction would have been delayed, so the best he could do was twist his neck away and leap into a hindleg kick of both his hind legs. Despite such a move being successful, he not only felt the wind of her teeth as they went past, but the slight sting as they managed to grab him for a brief moment in time before he had wrenched away.
At the very least however, he was satsified when his hooves struck something, and he managed to get a squeal out of her. He wasn't fond of arguing, nor was he particularly happy about the current situation despite his desire to fight. He couldn't really dive into it. He couldn't seriously injure her- well he could, but that wouldn't be very friendly of him considering how he thought of Aitumn. It just sucked the first egotistcal idiot he had to run into was one of the blood bay's friends.
Before be knew it, the hippogriff was having to turn back around again to keep an eye on the wild mare, only to be greeted by her roundabout charge once more. She. Just. Didn't. Give. Up. Annoying, frustrating, mare!

Augh! Bad idea! Feathers stuck to her tongue was a very bad feeling, and she was doing her best to spit them out despite the sharp pains to her left hip. Lucky bird-brain had landed a pretty significant hit, and one she didn't care to repeat if she had the chance to get away in time. Her pace was slowed dramatically thanks to her now awkward gait and slight limp, but that didn't stop her from barreling back into the silver stallion's personal space. She'd rip him, she'd tear him, hell she'd plow right through him if she could just to get him back!
Mecriana wasn't exactly a smart individual, so to her it seemed like a headbutt was a good idea. Just to avoid getting feathers stuck to her tongue once again. The paintaloosa mare lowered her head and prepared for the hit that was to come. Hopefully she'd get him. Hopefully she'd get that sick, ugly freak of nature. One more full, outstretched stride, and Mecriana ran smack dab into something. Hard. So hard and with a pushing force, it drove her toward the ground.
To say the least she had a splitting headache, and vertigo was the least of her worries at the moment. Everything seemed dull, almost as if it wasn't attached to her at all. And her sight was hazy... or were her eyes even open at this point? The mare blinked a few times until she was able to fully regain the picture of the world around her, and grunted when she attempted to move. Ugh. Definatly going to be sore in the morning, and with a spliting headache to boot. Then pressure against her throat made her vaguely aware of the stallion whose claw grasped, though loosely, at her flesh. He was saying something, jumbled words she couldn't quite comprehend at the moment, but any fighter knew their meaning. "Yeah, I give," the beaten mare spat hatefully, cringing at the very sound of those words.
She hated him. For beating her and making her submit to end the battle, she hated him. Coldly, darkly, and ruthlessly she cursed his name a million times within her own head as she waited to be let up again.

After a hit like that his talon was throbbing, and it was slowly inching the rest of the way up his leg. Hopefully he hadn't done too much damage to it, but it was better than slamming his own head into hers. He wasn't prepared to imagine the headache he would have gotten from something like that, much less the one she more than likely had now. It had been a nasty fall, but he had merely needed enough force to drive her head in that direction, to deflect if away from himself. The outcome was simply his luck, and her unluck.
It was time to end this silly little dual, since he obviously had no intention of killing or brutally harming her. Thus he had pressed his talon against her throat to force the point. He was through, and he'd have no more of her resistance. When she finally submitted, he released her, and with a snort turned his back on her to walk away. "G'day." She didn't deserve more than that, but at least it was some sort of good-bye. Unlike last time apparently.
He rightfully didn't care what she did after he left, all he knew is he didn't kill her, and that was good enough to keep on friendly terms with Aitumn if he happened upon the blood bay again.

It was difficult for just about anyone to admit defeat, but it was bitterly remorseful for Mecriana to admit straight out she had lost. To give up. To place someone above her willingly. It may have been different if he didn't look like such a freak, but that was doubtful. She hate just about anyone who did such a thing. Its not like she hadn't lost a fight before, but usually she just hauled her a** out of there without admiting anything, without saying it out loud. Purely, and simply, she hated the silver nequus with avian mutations. She'd get him back. She'd get her revenge. After she rested for a little while she'd find him, and then... well she wasn't sure what she'd do just yet, but she'd hurt him. Just a little rest first, enough to where her head stopped screaming at her.
