After episode 78, I felt like it left stuff out, it gives me questions that I needed/would like to have answered. Questions like...
"What is the 'Seed' really for? Is it Cosmo or a decendant of her?"
"Where the heck is Shadow? Is he really dead for real?"
"Chris may have made it home back to his dimension... or did he?" Dr. Eggman mentioned that it would have somekind of results.
So these questions really beg the question...
"Will there ever be a 4th season of Sonic X?"

Well, if it were up to me, Chris would have gotten stuck in a space/time warp, never to impose on Sonic's adventures ever again. : P
As for Cosmo, though, I'm pretty sure it's just a simple plant; a remnant of her. Having her revived would kind of kill the emotion and tragedy that Tails went through (which I feel was one of the biggest defining moments in the series).
That's about all the guesses I got, though; having missed spans of episodes thoughout the run. But, if I had to make a guess on if another Sonic X season was in the works, I'd probably have to say "probably not".
Considering that the 3rd season never ran in Japan (only in Europe and America), and the fact it's been nearly 4 years since that last season aired, I think this wave in Sonic-based animation has subsided. But hey, you never know...
Though I sort of want a new vision of the Sonic universe, ala the OAV/movie.

Episode 78 was left on a cliffhanger
The episode number on the official TMS Entertainment website is listed as "78+"
Evidence that goes against Season 4
TMS Entertainment said there are no episodes being produced
It's been almost 3 years

It's a fairly standard tactic to create demand for a next season, if just to get the resolution.
